Trein door de woestijn. DB 215 032 op 27-09-1990 nabij Budel met tr 42175 Antwerpen - Neuss (de IJzeren Rijn). Het heidegebied (met soms hinderlijke zandverstuivingen) was net afgegraven door de zinkfabriek, die veel zand nodig had voor een nieuw beZinkbassin voor afvalwater. Met de plicht de ontstane vlakte opnieuw te beplanten.

Dit hagedisje was zo vlug als water. Vandaar even door de gids tussen zijn vingers genomen , kun je ook gelijk zien hoe klein jij is!
We hebben een Living dessert tour gemaakt door de woestijn bij Swakopmund.Er zijn een hoop levende wezentjes in en op en onder het zand. In een Jeep rijd je door de woestijn. De gids kan aan de sporen zien waar de diertjes zitten. Hij haalt ze te voorschijn en verteld er over. Na het fotograferen zet hij ze ook netjes weer terug.

Vandaag 30 jaar jaar geleden stampte ik op 13 april 1991 samen met Harry Bossink en Frank Rijsdijk met veel bluf & bravoure een treinexcursie uit de grond waarover nog lang nagepraat zou worden en veel plekken waar we toen fotostops hielden zijn (onherkenbaar) veranderd of ligt zelfs geen rails meer. De "woestijn" bij Budel zou een jaar later al foetsie zijn maar dat wisten we toen gelukkig nog niet. Op de foto NS DE II 168 na een bezoek aan Budel op de terugweg naar Weert tijdens de fotostop in de "woestijn".

Bryce Canyon National Park /ˈbraɪs/ is a national park located in southwestern Utah in the United States. The Bryce Canyon area was settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and was named after Ebenezer Bryce, who homesteaded in the area in 1874. The area around Bryce Canyon became a National Monument in 1923 and was designated as a National Park in 1928. The park covers 35,835 acres (14,502 ha; 55.992 sq mi) and receives relatively few visitors compared to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon, largely due to its remote location. . . . . . Morgenstimmung in der Wüste Thar. Der Kamelkarren wartet schon.
Ochtendgloren in de Thar woestijn. De kamelenwagen staat al klaar.
We rijden door het prachtige duingebied bij Swakopmund. We stoppen en stappen uit. Steve heeft sporen gezien van een gekko. Ondertussen kijken wij rond in het duinlandschap. Wat zien we. Een local die zijn hond uit laat . Het moet niet gekker worden

Van het eens zo grote tramlijnennet in Cairo en de voorsteden Heliopolis en Helwan was in 2004 nog maar een klein deel over en in 2019 viel het doek voor de tram definitief. Heliopolis werd als nieuwe stad in de woestijn nabij Cairo ontworpen door de Belgische Baron Édouard Empain. Zijn lichaam rust in de crypte van de basiliek in Heliopolis. Het Kinki Sharyo-tramstel 933 staat naast deze Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek. De inzet van Google laat het gehele kerkgebouw in 2020 zien waarbij de tramrails zijn opgebroken en de straat ten behoeve van het autoverkeer is verbreed.
The tramway system in the city of Cairo and its suburbs Heliopolis and Helwan was already significantly reduced in 2004 and definitely ceased in 2019. Heliopolis was designed as a new city in the desert near Cairo by the Belgian industrialist Édouard Empain, The Catholic Basilica church on Al-Ahram street is a famous landmark in Heliopolis, and it is the burial place of Baron Empain. Canyonlands National Park is a U.S. National Park located in southeastern Utah near the town of Moab. It preserves a colorful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas, and buttes by the Colorado River, the Green River, and their respective tributaries. Legislation creating the park was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on September 12, 1964.
The park is divided into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze, and the rivers themselves. While these areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, each retains its own character. Two large river canyons are carved into the Colorado Plateau by the Colorado River and Green River. Dit populaire kuststadje is gelegen tussen de Atlantische oceaan en de Namib woestijn. Aan de gebouwen zag je de Duitse invloed.

Death Valley is een dal in de Verenigde Staten, voor het overgrote deel in de staat Californië en een klein deel in de staat Nevada . Het gebied is omringd door bergen en maakt deel uit van het Grote Bekken en de Mojavewoestijn. Het dal is onderdeel van het iets grotere Nationale Park met dezelfde naam.
