"Magic is natural to wizards, and only a little harder for the rest of us."

58/100 words: magic
The Wizard Spire remains standing tall above the poison breath clouds. Aragain, the master mage, calls for silence amoung the panicked classroom. This isn't the first time she has seen a student's spell turn awry. As soon the undermages were still, she bowed her head. Her long, silver hair fell forward obscuring her deep concentration. Trains of light commenced to dance around and through her body.
"This isn't going to be easy this tme," Aragain's familiar spoke softly in a raspy mouse squeak.
"Shut Up!" Aragain's left eye flashed then quickly reclosed to join the rest of her body in spellcast.

I hand made this staff over a period of about a month by sanding and shaping combined with a finish in Tung Oil and natural oil based stains. The Staff stands just over 5' 6" tall. The staff has a nice heft to it and is very strong. The staff is from a young oak tree sourced from our land in East Texas. The head of the staff is a beautifully shaped piece of burled wood from the base of the young tree, This brings out a quality of extremely hard and beautiful wood grain characteristics with some of the Stain and Tung Oil finish sections of the head looking more like petrified wood.
Towards the center behind the center piece crystal is an area of wood grain all pointing to a central location, the heart, the place where the young tree sprouted. The feature is really unique.
The top is encrusted with strategically placed precious and semi-precious gem stones. The labradorite catches nice bits of flash in the sun light when walking.
* Rutilated Double Pointed Quartz is the main center piece surrounded by:
o Chalcopyrite
o Blue Topaz
o Imperial Topaz
o Peridot
o Labradorite
o Amethyst
o Fresh Water Pearls - Peacock color
o Faceted Pearl
There are small Peridot and Fresh Water pearls placed along the staff to fill some knots.
The leather grip is fashioned from rawhide laid down inside out. Both tacked and glued for durability then shrunk, waxed and oiled then heat treated. Finishing nails are weathered brass for aged and primitive look.
The foot has a mechanical shock absorbing component to it's installation`. The foot is a combination of high density silicone and metal. The combination in materials and compression mounting with a water proof, hostile environment ready tape laid down in interwoven layers while applying continues compression provides a shock absorbing hinged foot that adds comfort and stability should the staff be utilized as a walking staff.

My latest map, and my first detailed city map.
Fortunicity is THE in place for the creme de la creme of the magic world. It's practically bursting at the seams with enchantment. From the Witches' Quarter to the University of Wonder to the Great Illusory River, you'll see plenty of marvelous things in this metropolis of magic.

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost….”
- JRR Tolkien
"A Little Tale"…
In case you are wondering how I came to be in possession of this custom Wizard’s hutch, which by the way, given the nature of Wizards, are hard to come by, let me tell you…
You see, unless a Wizard is a member of the “Wizards’ Wizardry to the Nth Power Council”, Wizards tend to wander by nature, moving every 500 years or so. They travel through time; dimension; to earthly places, normally hidden, secret or in Hollows; and to places on different vibrational planes. And, when they leave, they only take a few possessions particular to them at that moment.
So, it is the Wizard’s wandering nature that resulted in my acquiring this fine piece.
“An Observation… or Two…“
In looking at the possessions left behind on and in this fine custom hutch, one could reasonably conclude that this Wizard was called away or departed in a hurry. For one thing, he left his food and drink untouched. And, cobwebs are forming; so, he has been gone for awhile.
And, did you notice, as I did, the “liquid” gold on the bottom shelf? How about the Alchemy gadgets and the clock with no hands?
This Wizard must have achieved the highest of the high and discovered the Philosopher’s Stone. So, that means, he can turn base metals into gold and he is now immortal; that is why the clock has no hands. Time no longer matters to him.

Taken through some wire fencing so quite pleased with this, shame it is black and white but there was a few different coloured spot lights causing a strange colour cast that I couldn't remove.

So, at one point I mentioned that I used to be in “Madrigal Choir” in high school. My girlfriend and friends heard magic choir. man-o-man. So, an ode to hard-of-hearing friends.
nerd alert: the text is from the song “Il est bel et bon,” which I actually sang in madrigal choir …

Day Thirty-One:
Behold I am the Great and Mysterious Rando...when will I appear? Who knows. What will I do? Dinnae Ken. Who will I do it to? Hehe well that all depends on who is having the unlucky day. Which is why I have my little accomplice with me. You know of the Luck Dragon? Well, this is my Nae Luck Dragon. There's not a lot of good fortune surrounding it but there are a lot of bones.
I recognise that bone. That one too. And that. Never seen that one before. It's a bit on the peculiar side. Are we sure it's even from dinner? I'm unconvinced that part of our usual diet. I'm putting all these ones together and we'll see where it's from. So the leg bone connects to the...what does it connect to? Shhhh I'm singing that song in my head. Neckbone? That can't be right.
Pah, it doesn't matter. It's dinner. It's food. It's what's going into the pot to make people soup. If there's anything attached to them we'll call it Stu....I mean stew.
Now if you'll excuse me. I have many revellers to lead on a merry jaunt to my pantry. The good thing about picking up party people for this is they're already marinaded.
My second visit to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, The Making of Harry Potter, and another 200+ photos, some of which are on display here!

Aragain's left hand shoved forth focusing the spell onto the giant monster created by her student mages. This one was particularly nasty; nearly invisible except for the fumes of death encompassing its body. Rising up on its hind four legs, it stretched up tall as the school tower itself. The foul drake sensed the attack coming and prepared a defense.
As the spell enegy flowed from her body outward, she realized instantly some of the magicked spew was reflecting back. "Damn, " squeaked Mistral, the white mouse upon her shoulder. "I told you they were not ready for the Sixth level, but do you listen to me? No..."
Aragain quickly snapped her head towards her familiar. "Shut up and help me!"
