I have no idea what this flower/herb/weed is, but I found it fascinating. It was growing in the Culross Palace garden in Culross, Scotland. It seemed like the perfect, spooky plant for Halloween!

I grew up a few doors down from this house and back then it looked like a witches house which we called it from then on. Now it seems abandoned and the driveway is overgrown and full of wildflowers now.

We found this witch hazel aka hamamelis coming into flower in the winter garden at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens.
Its strange flowers with small centres and long stringy petals always fascinate me. When full out, their scent is pervasive.
