This is another great piece of work by the acclaimed Glasgow artist, Andy Scott.
As well as in his native Scotland, Andy Scott's public art can be found in Belfast, Brisbane and Spain.
On the south side of the Clydeford bridge at the Clyde Walkway and National Cycle Route 75 is a metallic wire sculpture of a wading bird created in 1998 by noted sculptor Andy Scott. It is known as the Carmyle Heron (although it is actually on the Cambuslang side of the river). It is located by the Clyde Walkway in Carmyle near the Clydeford Rd bridge.
This 8m high metal artwork was commissioned by Sustrans in 1998 and marks the regeneration of the River Clyde and its benefits to wildlife.

This wire sculpture was created by artist Trevor Flinn from Dunkeld in Victoria on my brother's farm as part of a regional arts project in the NSW southern Riverina and northern Victoria.
Byjantic is the name of a nearby creek and Byjantic Man features in a song of the same name by Australian singer songwriter Neil Murray who has performed at the nearby Nyang Woolshed. The sculpture features on the album cover too.
Murray sees Byjantic Man as the sole human survivor in a post catastrophe world, a quite dark interpretation The song can be heard here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsmSVqn7dpI

Another very relaxed day, waiting for my energy to return.
The penguin I made for Tim was casting a nice shadow as I sat at the table to eat my lunch. (Hardly ever sit at the table, but I was having something cheesy, and Tim really, really does not like cheese, so I was being kind and putting some distance between my lunch and him.)
We watched BlackkKansman this evening, which was excellent. Lots of fictionalised bits in the story, but amazing how much of it was based on true events!

what a great thanksgiving! i drove west to Mojave (from barstow) for some urban documentation and then north to Cache Creek/Warren. i love that area!
i did a bunch of old buildings but something was missing, i kept feeling like something was lacking.
in the desert distance i saw a pink vintage trailer. it was with a couple more vintage trailers and a stone building. i LOVE old trailers.
but they were surrounded by a weathered wooden fence and lots of no trespassing signs.
as i drove around the property i found these most amazing wire sculptures. they were quite fabulous!
oh i really wanted to photograph them from the front but i settled for shooting them from the rear because of the no trespassing signs.
i can't find anything on google about them, but they lifted my spirits in some undefinable way.
so my fellow mojave travelers, does this sculpture look familiar? or perhaps the locale sounds familiar?
@mojave_desert_rose how about you? familiar?

Part of Whitby's Walk With Heritage Project. Wire sculptures by Yorkshire artist, Emma Stothard.
On West Cliff is to be found Crow’s Nest and whaling captain and explorer William Scoresby. Credited by some as the inventor of the mast-top lookout, it’s probable that Scoresby just came up with the name and some 18th-century improvements to an ancient piece of seafaring kit.

"Samantha Pennicott" commission original 1 of 1 2008
This particular piece, is very personal to me, it was commissioned by the parents of a 19 year old Art student called Samantha Penlicot.
Samantha suffered from epilepsy and sadly died as a result.
Her father was a policeman and had had a tattoo done of a fairy sitting on a cloud, which was a design/sketch done by Samantha.
They sent me a photograph of the Tattoo, and several photos of Samantha, who I have to say was a beautiful young Lady, full of joy and genuine happiness.
Anyway the spiritual connection with Samantha's sculpture was extremely moving, and I quite often found myself in tears whilst working on her construction.
In July 2006, Mike, Samantha's father was presented with a posthumous BA Hons Degree for Sam – the work she had completed for her degree in Interior Design was enough to ensure she was awarded the accolade she so richly deserved.
Please visit Samantha's memorial website:

Somehow this wire sculpture creates a box shadow on the wall, with a light at the right angle above it.

Part of Whitby's Walk With Heritage Project. Wire sculptures by Yorkshire artist, Emma Stothard. This particular sculpture is located at the eastern end of the famous Swing Bridge.
Wearing a traditional gansey sweater and sou'wester the Bridge Ender typifies the old Whitby fishermen, who would survey the state of the seas and the weather before sailing.
(Although, it is quite intriguing to the writer why the figure is facing inland, and not out to sea)

The wonder step of wire arts process /RhinocerosIn my wire sculptures I use a combination of very different techniques and processes. They are, for example, interlacing and rolling in a single thread directly, by interweaving the threads leaving the negative space as dominant, sometimes the modeling is combined with pliers.I will be pleased to present a summary of both concrete examples of these sculptures as well as a summary of procedure and associations to the varied traditions of contemporary trends that nurture and inspire this extraordinary art where hands with few complements are the main tool and of course the capacity of one's creation.
==============
I also invite you if you have the opportunity to visit Mojácar pueblo or the privileged to live here or in this extraordinary region to visit my art studio, a place open to true dialogue and cultural exchange.
From about 2017 there will be frequent open days but the study can also be visited by appointment. Ideal to leave the daily or forced visits to the dentist and other 'more necessary' but certainly less original chores.

Moulamein, NSW
This wire sculpture is on my brother's farm near Moulamein in the NSW southern Riverina. It was done by Dunkeld (Victoria) artist, Trevor Flinn, and used for the cover of singer/songwriter Neil Murray's album "Blood and Longing". The sculpture is very close to the historic Nyang Woolshed. I took this last winter in the dying light of a crisp June evening.
"A feature of the album’s artwork and title to one of two singles is “Byjantic man”. The track was inspired by a sculpture of hand-forged iron bolts and wire by the artist Trevor Flinn. The sculpture was made and remains on Peter Redfearn’s farm near Moulamein, NSW. ( The bolts were sourced from a dismantled bridge that once spanned the nearby Byjantic creek). Neil Murray met the “Man” in 2016 when he was performing at the Old Nyang West woolshed on Peter Redfearn’s property." australianmusician.com.au/neil-murray-blood-longing-inter...
