ZURB Wired 2016: Life Services Alternatives is committed to
providing quality homes for adults with disabilities. This year, they are trying to purchase their 12th home.
We’re going to help them by creating a brand new marketing campaign that includes a new responsive
website, print mailers, thank you cards, posters and email campaigns with video.
The ZURB Wired 24-hour marathon is where our team and the team from
one lucky local nonprofit get together to do something great in 24 hours. We spend the day helping the
nonprofit solve a big challenge; whether it be marketing for an upcoming event, or completely overhauling
their brand; and we get it all done in 24 hours.
ZURB is a close-knit team of product designers that help companies design
better. zurb.com
Information Architect Shean Malik uses sketches to create wireframes which will guide the structure of the website to provide the best user experience for the audience.
Took some finicky fiddling but finally got a hand-drawn Klein bottle with all the normals going the right way, and was able to import it into TopMod and play with it.
Here are some of the results...
3D recreation of Bobby Chiu’s version of Patrick Morgan’s “Whaleboy”. You can see Bobby’s concept here www.deviantart.com/imaginism/art/Whaleboy-55355195.
I’ve always admired Bobby’s great ideas for characters, and of course, his incredible talent to project his ideas into an image, which made me want to recreate this guy.
Wireframe terrain map of Sheffield, created using OS OpenData elevation points with a 5x vertical stretch. The grid, viewed here from the south-east, is a 12.5km square whose SW corner is at SK27508200.
Put another way the coverage is roughly from Dore Moor in the south-west to Blackburn and Shiregreen (NE), Grenoside (NW) and Frecheville (SE).
I've so far failed in my attempts to overlay a map onto this but have fun spotting where you live!
Prior to creating this digital version I used note cards with potential content blocks drawn on them to generate quick paper prototypes of my intended wireframe. For me, this method is faster than both sketching and digital mockups and is a task that can be completed anywhere.
