As you can see, I wandered around our home studios for different settings! This wire piece is another oldie but goodie, but the dangle is the same as in the piece below!
I've posted this arrangement a few times in the past,
but I love how its backgrounds always change with the weather.
I was stopped at a red light in downtown Baltimore last week and saw this very cool wire art from #reedbmoreart.
Yes, I know, Christmas is a few months away, but with my schedule,
I need to start early with my hand-made gifts!
I couldn't resist delving into my holiday stash of beautiful fibers which complement the season! And being Green Thursday, well, today seemed like a good time to decorate my stream!

Another from my ICM series. The simpler the better with these subjects. This one is a simple copper wire with a bend. As with my others, I used bulb vs a set shutter speed. And, like my others, I used a simple light to graze the surface of the wire.

This began it's life as an image as a green pepper stamen. It migrated through a transition of wire brush digital painting and blending modes to arrive at this point.
In my wire sculptures I use a combination of very different techniques and processes.
They are, for example, interlacing and rolling in a single thread directly, by interweaving the threads leaving the negative space as dominant, sometimes the modeling is combined with pliers.
I will be pleased to present a summary of both concrete examples of these sculptures as well as a summary of procedure and associations to the varied traditions of contemporary trends that nurture and inspire this extraordinary art where hands with few complements are the main tool of course The capacity of one's creation.
I also invite you if you have the opportunity to visit Mojácar pueblo or the privileged to live here or in this extraordinary region to visit my art studio, a place open to true dialogue and cultural exchange.
From April there will be frequent open days but can also be visited by appointment.Ideal to leave the daily or forced visits to the dentist and other 'more necessary' but certainly less original chores.

Tendré el placer de ir presentando un resumen tanto de ejemplos concretos de estas esculturas así como un resumen de procedimiento y asociaciones a las variadas tradiciones tendencias contemporáneas que nutren e inspiran este extraordinario arte donde las manos con pocos complementos son la principal herramienta unidos por supuesto a la capacidad de la propia creación .

This figurine is a miniature version of the sculpture, Whimsys Pride, that can be seen at Trentham Gardens; kits are available from Fantasy Wire at 8 and 16 inches tall.
This figure formed part of the display at Trentham gardens entrance hall.
Whenever I see one of these sculptures, either full size or miniature, I can't help but smile. It may be a sysmptom of my second childhood but it does lift my mood.

El Espacio Negativo en fotografia es un elemento esencial que entra en la composición.

¿Qué Es el Espacio Negativo?
Cuando miramos una fotografía, en términos generales estamos viendo tres elementos distintos:
El marco. Se trata del límite de la fotografía. Y no se trata sólo de la línea en la que se "acaba" la imagen, también se incluye dentro de este concepto aquella zona cercana a esa línea. Es decir, la zona que rodea toda la imagen.
El espacio positivo. Es aquello que hemos fotografiado, nuestro sujeto principal. El elemento más importante de la imagen.
El espacio negativo. Es todo lo demás. Es el espacio que queda entre el marco y el espacio positivo. Es un espacio sin rellenar, que está porque debe estar y que está "vacío", sin información relevante para la fotografía. En el momento en el que lo que pensábamos que era un espacio negativo tiene algún detalle importante para la lectura de la imagen, deja de ser espacio negativo para pasar a ser espacio positivo (espacio con información).
El espacio negativo, aunque no tenga "información relevante", también es un elemento de la composición y, por lo tanto, debemos saber usarlo para dotar de más interés y belleza a nuestras imágenes.

ESPACIO NEGATIVO EN LA ESCULTURA EN MALLAS Y ALAMBRE
…"Si tenemos en cuenta que en la fotografía el espacio negativo corresponde a un elemento de composición (al igual que textura ,encuadre o cuadro )y que cumple una particular función, la de situar un ambiente y que fortalece el encuadre principal del sujeto ,
En escultura los dos espacios negativo y positivo se funden de manera que ciertos elementos del sujeto que miramos elos vacío permiten a nuestra imaginación y mirada reconstruir la totalidad del volumen -sujeto.
El espacio vacío o negativo se convierte así en algo casi material que podemos ver aunque no esta.

From an outdoor wire art sculpture at the (get this!) Cobalt Gallery in Tubac, Arizona. Worth the look at the original size to see the copper wire, copper tubing and cobalt blue glass balls. The largest balls are about 3 1/2" in diameter. This is one of 3 images from this sculpture.

As the lion is the "King of the Beasts" and the eagle the "King of the Air", the gryphon (as combination of the two) was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. They would find gold in the mountains and built their nests of it and instead of eggs they laid agate.
15cm tall
Materials:
Silver wire, acid free tissue paper, acid free tracing paper
Technique:
Small pliers are used to manipulate the fine wire, wire is wrapped around wire at every join. Eventually this process creates a wireframe creature, the wire describing the contours and the outline. Finally, fine paper is applied sized and wet. As it dries it becomes taut like a drum and forms the translucent skin. For this particular gryphon paper feathers are attached, each one having been scored and folded to add dimension.
