Cookies I made with a friend of mine, Judy. We worked hard and it totally paid off! And yes they are as yummy as they look.

Living up to its name this Brutti ma Buoni is “ugly but good”. But it is the closest I have come to getting these Italian hazelnut meringue cookies right. (And I’m sure to devour them anyway.) I’ve been chasing the proper name and recipe for these cookies for a couple of years! I don’t think they are even close to perfect yet - double cook? Oven temp? (perhaps time to beg @eriscooking for some guidance) And they doo look suspiciously similar to the “bowel buddies” my mother in law makes. But I am delighted none the less! . . . #bruttimabuoni #hazelnutcookies #homemade #uglybutgood #almostright #darkinstagram #toodark #baking #cookies #treats #fbcigers #recipetesting #winterbaking #winterbakingseason #meringuecookies #LexGoFurther via Instagram ift.tt/2NZP5GB

One of my favorite cookies I decorated with a friend. The icing is made of confectioners sugar and heavy whipping cream, with a little bit of blue dye, or left simple white.

Once you decorate the cookies, the icing needs to set and harden. I took the liberty to take a few shots while they did. We used toothpicks to spread white against the blue backgrounds. We also sprinkles clear sugar over the top to give it an icy appearance.

These muffins were made by Michael and I during Sofia's mid-morning nap. We used the last batch of frozen berries from summer.
