Crazy name for this Columbine variety. Just as crazy is how it makes an appearance every 2-3 years and not necessarily where I planted the original. Always happy to see it. This year it popped up in the middle of the astilbe I planted last year.

This resilient little barred owl continues to soldier on with one working eye. I first saw it about a month ago, when the wound was still fresh, and it appears to be doing alright. The wound, while certainly intense looking, seems to be healing up without infection, and from what I can see it is hunting effectively.
Cute South Florida burrowing owl at Vista View Park winking at the camera. I guess these feisty bird are used to being photograph.

One of many Aquilegia in our garden, this is double flowered of which we have many different varieties. A hardy perennial, it flowers every year. It has pleated and quilted blooms, in deep rosy-pink and white.
Taken with my Canon EOS 7D and Canon EF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens, and framed in Photoshop.

Spotted this owl a few times over the past weeks. Thankfully, what was a pretty gruesome eye injury appears to be healing without infection, and it seems to be hunting alright. I'm hopeful it can pull through. I've been told by rehabbers that barred owls can do ok with one eye, since they rely heavily on hearing for capturing prey.
The green stink bug.
From spring to autumn the animals have a green base colour and are finely dotted with dark spots. In autumn they change their colouring to a brown or red-brown depending on the temperature, only to turn green again after hibernation.

Winky also lives with my mate and his family, she is a rescue kitty. She was very shy and timid when i first saw her, now she is much calmer and doesn't mind a pat. She is very fluffy now too!
A friend's cat who was adopted from an animal shelter and is blind in one eye. Still very shy but will come up to you for pats when in the right mood :-)
Now! Why do I call him Winky? So obvious really! He's on 'show' all the time!!!! I'm quite pleased with these pictures! I took them through our kitchen window!

This is a shot I’ve been after for a while now, so when the right conditions presented themselves I was straight out there. The image features Winkie Lighthouse at the Point of Ayre in the foreground with a 1 hour star trail exposure in the sky above. I positioned north star directly above the lighthouse so that the stars would create their trails in a symmetrical fashion round the building. This was attempt number 5 to get this shot having made multiple unsuccessfull trips to this spot over the last few months. Well worth the effort! Patience really is the key with landscape photography!
Shot - made up of 160 exposures each shot at 14mm, f2.8, 20 Seconds, ISO 2000. Post processed using Adobe Lightroom and Star Stax

When she saw that I was hesitant to photograph her, since she was another photographer's model, she gave me an encouraging don't-be-so-shy wink, and so I took this picture after all (at the Theseus Temple in the Volksgarten in Vienna).
