No other bird was in the snowy egret's space on the lake. Nevertheless, he went out of his way to harrass an unaggressive great blue heron. Then he waded a long way in the other direction to chastize this immature night heron who was minding his own business on the lower tier of the lake overflow ledge. The heron seemed to cower (insert), but apparently he was just gaining his leverage!
Hello All,
Another image of the Horned Lark (Eremophila alpestris) which I spotted last week. I was surprised to see the pinkish tones in their feathers, very pretty birds!
The snow is slowly melting and the large trees are just beginning to bud! Spring is on the way! It is -5 C at the moment.
Have a wonderful day! Thank you so much for your comments and views, I appreciate them!

Climbing about 11,500 feet at 360 knots on the way from Dublin to Frankfurt on LH 979, A340 style.
Lufthansa have started using an Airbus A340-300 on their Frankfurt-Dublin route for summer 2019.
Flight LH 978/979 on Wednesdays only until Sept/ October will be upgraded from the regular A320/1 to the massive A340, a real treat at Dublin not used to regular A340 movements, certainly not passenger services.
Seen on the inaugural flight back from Dublin to Frankfurt, LH 979 on 3rd July 2019, D-AIGS doing the honors.
Here we are on day three and already I'm winging it. I created a list of ideas for my shot today, but by the time I got home from work and had dinner, I just didn't feel like doing any of them. This isn't even plan "C". This is drag-some-lights-into-the-kitchen-look-through-the-cupboards-seat-of-my-pants shooting. Add a quick edit to get the shot up before midnight. And whew! Three down.
British Airways CityFlyer G-LCYN, the "700th" Embraer ERJ type delivered & proudly displayed on the side.
Seen at London City Airport, the home of the CityFlyer fleet of Embraer's, ideal for the short runway & steep landing/ take offs required.
As well as the convenience of London City Airport with quicker access to London itself, the airport provides amazing views for departing passengers, you can almost touch the wings from the gates, plus all boarding is done by walkway, there are no airbridges.

The city jet & whisper jet, the unique Avro.
Way back in January 1987, the BAe 146 was selected as the launch jet aircraft for London City Airport (LCY).
Due to its short-field capabilities and quietness, it was the perfect choice. It was at the time the only conventional jet aircraft that could use London City Airport.
Cityjet continued to the last operator of this type into LCY until the onset of Covid-19 in early 2020 when the fleet was prematurely retired.
Thirty Strangers - One Question: What makes you happy?
I like his answer, totally winging something is the best!
I started to chat with this guy after he answered the question and it turned out that he is a photographer too! Although he shoots on film, a Nikon FE2 if I remember correctly. And he's been shooting for about a year now.
I should really take notes about the conversations I have with people, and I should also talk for longer with them so I have lots and lots of nice details to go with the picture! Oh well, this has been a learning experience and I think that I just might do a round two, but with a different question sometime.
Well, this is my quick upload before work, today marks the first day getting to work without my bike... I'm sad. I need to go and buy a new frame so I can be free again!
The General Electric GE90-115B, the power of the British Airways Boeing 777-300 fleet.
On Sunday 5th March, British Airways operated a very unique flight on the London/Dublin route using their long haul Boeing 777-300ER.
Boeing 777-336ER, G-STBG, built in 2013, operated the 1 hour flight, always served by their short haul A319/320/321 fleet.
G-STBG has 8 first class, 76 business, 40 premium economy & 130 economy seats, featuring the new Club world lie flat suites in business, in a 1-2-1 configuration featuring sliding doors, rolled out between 2019 and 2022.

In late January, British Airways widebody runs to FRA,BER and DUB were offered in their booking engine due to a cargo contract with IAG Cargo requiring additional belly hold capacity.
Originally 31 short-haul widebody flights to Frankfurt, Berlin & Dublin, typically served by the Airbus A320 family between February and April switched to 777 operations.
Sadly however from an enthusiast point of view, most of the flights were downgraded back to Airbus A321 equipment before the actual flights commenced due to the loss of the cargo contract.
The Dublin flight of the 5th continued, moreso because of the heavy bookings on both legs, however the flight of the 7th reverted to an A321.

The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes
Le véritable voyage de découverte ne consiste pas à chercher de nouveaux paysages, mais à avoir de nouveaux yeux.
(Marcel Proust)
I so meant to upload this for the weekend; but my eyes are hurting and I'm too tired to write a lot. Please forgive me and let me just wish you a wonderful flight into Sunday, the New Week and for those who will have a week of (skiing? bathing? sun-catching?) holidays: Have a great time!
Literally 'untreated' photo. I took this shot in early 2007 and only now when I made this gull my screen-saver, I realised that the gull is 'pulling' a stream of light up through the air. I cannot explain the phenomena, I can just marvel.... Looking at my (and mostly YOUR) photos on my large screen is the best photoalbum to have!
The place is - as most of my beloved 'blue' photos, LUTRY (VD), Switzerland where I lost my heart and I have you know that, one day I'll be going back and not only place my bed but my whole being on that blessed soil again! Until then I'm dreaming my Lutry dreams and treat the world with my 'new eyes' and my 'old songs' as best as I can.

Making some Charlie Cunningham inspired lever link brakes for an upcoming build. I made a set last year and they worked great but these will be an improvement on those. Projects like these are good for me as a reset between bike builds. #leverlink #brake #filletbrazing #makingthings #wingingit #chapmancycles
Had to get some headshots last minute so decided to try them myself. Only have film cameras so used my phone. Came out pretty well for just having one light, and curtain, and a sheet of tinfoil for a reflector. Was kinda hard posing and making sure I was in frame tho 😅

This time I used a Sony FE 70-200 GM lens rather than the Voigtlander 15mm which I used before.

Gull on Karlův most (Charles Bridge). Although, I guess it could just be anywhere. Anyway, this reminds me of being in Prague, so it's special to me.
Thanks for the trip Sho xx
The sign indicated that this was “Phoenix Stirring” but in the catalog it is identified as “Winging It”.

I especially liked this.

I decided to leave this shot without a texture because it was the clearest of the three flight shots I took of this egret. The texture just took away from this one, whereas it enhanced the other two.
I've always had trouble getting a good focus on these larger, water birds in flight. They all fly quite fast. I was pretty pleased with this one, though. It's a little more reminiscent of some of my earlier seagull shots, which were taken with point and shoots that were nowhere near the quality of some of my current cameras, yet somehow they produced awesome, sharp shots. What's with that, anyway? I tried to get some dragonfly shots with my fujifilm P&S yesterday, and it refused to give me a decent focus. While it's not like this Canon 40D, it wasn't a junk camera, but I've found the Fujis to be a bit finicky. I'm sure the Canon would be more responsive in the hands of someone who knew how to set up for shots like this. One day. For now, I guess I'm the one winging it!
