Hello my friends!!!

As you can see, i have been away from flickr the last weeks, without posting anything or making comments...but don't worry, i'm fine!!

It's just that, after more than two years here, i feel like i need to take a little break. I'm very busy at work and in my very little free time, i want to focus on my artwork. :)

I will still be checking my emails and looking at your wonderful pictures, of course. And I promise i will be back very soon!!! Have a lot of fun in the meantime.

I went to the art supply shop today and bought myself all sorts of goodies.

The one thing I had to try out was my Windsor and Newton water color marker. I tried to buy a skin color. It was a bit to pink so I also tried out my Windsor and Newton water color tube naples yellow red and it turned out kind of okay.

I guess I still have to practice.

I used some Caran d'ache luminance pencils for the eyes and hair.

My uniball fineliners for the inking and my uniball signo white for the highlights.

I sketched it on an aquarel block I bought at flying tiger. It was inexpensive and I only bought it to do some practicing and not use my Windsor and Newton sketchbook. The texture is a bit grainy but it did well with the marker and the pencils. So all in all it is okay if you consider it wasn't that expensive.

Hope you like my little sketch I just had to share. Plan to do an entire fairytale series once I've finished my tarot deck. So exciting!

Title: Turn up the heat please

A pair of crows sits atop a cobra-head street light during a snowstorm. I once read that some crows, being the smartest of the birds, learned that they could turn the streetlights on by covering the photocell with their wing. During the cold weather they would perch atop the lights and turn them on to warm up on the heat from the lamp. I love crows and this story has stuck in my mind. The other morning it was sleeting and as I was watching the snow I thought of that story and thus the picture was envisaged. It was drawn over the next few days and as of today it is literally hot off the desk - still smelling of lacquer fixative.
