"Windsor Castle including all the buildings within the walls. England's largest castle and a royal palace, covering some 13 acres. The castle dates back to William the Conqueror but the first stone buildings were erected by Henry II between 1165 and 1179. The round keep stands on an artificial motte and there are baileys known as the Lower, Middle and Upper Wards. Continuous additions since this time with particular activity following the foundation of the Order of the Garter by Edward III in 1348, the ensuing St George's Chapel of 1475-1511; and extensive rebuilding for Charles II by Hugh May. The present aspect of the Castle largely results from the alterations, additions and restorations carried out by James Wyatt and Sir Jeffry Wyatville circa 1800 to 1830, with further work carried out by Blore and Salvin in Queen Victoria's reign. Dominant cliff-top setting".

A RAINHA VITÓRIA - CASTELO DE WINDSOR - Pela Graça de Deus, Rainha do Reino Unido da Grã-Bretanha e Irlanda, Defensora da Fé e Imperatriz da Índia. (Com as doenças e pestes que assolavam Londres, a rainha decide morar no Castelo de Windsor, e lá permanece até sua morte).
Vitória do Reino Unido (1819-1901), procedente da Casa de Hanôver (A Casa de Hanôver, é uma família nobre européia, de origem germânica, que substituiu a Casa de Stuart na coroa britânica em 1714, em virtude da rainha Ana I Stuart não ter descendentes). Vitória era filha do príncipe Eduardo, duque de Kent e Strathearn, o quarto filho do rei Jorge III. Tanto o duque de Kent como o rei morreram em 1820, fazendo com que Vitória fosse criada sob a supervisão da sua mãe alemã, a princesa Vitória de Saxe-Coburgo-Saalfeld. Herdou o trono aos dezoito anos, depois de os três tios paternos terem morrido sem descendência legítima.
Vitória, além de ter se casado com seu primo direto, o Príncipe Alberto de Saxe-Coburgo-Gota, em 1840, era boa parideira: teve nove filhos! Os seus nove filhos e vinte e seis dos seus quarenta e dois netos, casaram-se com outros membros da realeza e famílias nobres por todo o Continente Europeu, unindo-as entre si, o que lhe valeu a alcunha de “A Avó da Europa”. Os seus descendentes incluem a rainha Isabel II, o príncipe Filipe, o rei Harald V da Noruega, o rei Carlos XVI Gustavo da Suécia, a rainha Margarida II da Dinamarca, o rei Juan Carlos I de Espanha, a sua esposa Sofia, entre outros. Após a morte de Alberto em 1861, Vitória entrou num período de luto profundo durante o qual evitou aparecer em público.
Vitória foi rainha do Reino Unido de 1837 até a morte, em 1901, sucedendo ao tio, o rei Guilherme IV. A incorporação da Índia ao Império Britânico em 1877, conferiu a Vitória o título de Imperatriz da Índia. O seu reinado de 63 anos e 7 meses foi o mais longo, até à data, da história do Reino Unido e ficou conhecido como: “A Era Vitoriana”. Foi um período de mudança industrial, cultural, política, científica e militar no Reino Unido e ficou marcado pela expansão do Império Britânico.
A sua coroação aconteceu no dia 28 de Junho de 1838 e Vitória tornou-se na primeira soberana a residir no Palácio de Buckingham. Herdou as propriedades dos ducados de Lancaster e Cornualha e passou a receber 385.000 libras por ano. Sendo prudente a nível financeiro, conseguiu pagar as dívidas do seu pai - o príncipe Eduardo, duque de Kent.
Vitória era fisicamente desproporcional: era corpulenta, deselegante e não tinha mais de metro e meio, mas teve sucesso em projetar uma grande imagem. Foi pouco popular durante os primeiros anos da sua viuvez, mas foi muito amada durante as décadas de 1880 e 1890. A Rainha Vitória, além de ser emocional, obstinada, honesta e frontal, era também “escritora”, dezenas de Diários foram deixados. Em 17 de Março de 1883, Vitória caiu alguns degraus em Windsor, o que a deixou presa a uma cadeira-de-rodas até Julho. A rainha nunca recuperou completamente desta queda e sofreu de reumatismo até ao fim da sua vida. No leito da sua morte, ela estava acompanhada de seu filho, o futuro rei Eduardo VII, e seu neto mais velho, o Imperador alemão Guilherme II. O seu funeral realizou-se no Sábado, dia 2 de Fevereiro de 1901, na Capela de São Jorge, no Castelo de Windsor e, depois de dois dias de velório, foi enterrada junto de Alberto, no Mausoléu de Frogmore, no Grande Parque de Windsor. It's an early morning sunrise on the upbound MV Indiana Harbor in the Detroit River. After unloading coal at St. Clair and Monroe, we moved over to Toledo Harbor to get stickers put on the Indy's superstructure and after fueling at the Sterling Fuel Dock in Windsor, we're finally on our way back to Duluth, MN. Just after passing under the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit, we catch the sun is rising over the low clouds in Windsor, Ontario. Just to the left of the mast is Detroit's Renaissance Center & the GM Headquarters buildings.

Windsor Ruins are in Claiborne County in the U.S. state of Mississippi, about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Port Gibson near Alcorn State University. The ruins consist of 23 standing Corinthian columns of the largest antebellum Greek Revival mansion ever built in the state. The mansion stood from 1861 to 1890, when it was destroyed by fire. The Round Tower and Moat Garden. The Motte was originally crowned with a wooden pallisade whcih was succeeded by two shell keeps in quick succession, the second of which comprises the lower half of the current structure, and dates from the 1220s and the minority of Henry III. The Interior was re-built in 1355-8 for Edward III. Sir Jeffry Wyatville raised the Tower by two stories in 1828. The interior of the Tower was further re-modelled in 1989-91 by the Building Design Partnership. The Garden was landscaped in the late 19th, early 20th century.
