Something Yellow .

Well I knew of a yellow something - a car I have photographed before , and as there were only about 30 made I reckoned it was worth a return visit and this time with a more selective view of the yellow beast !!

The Dax Kamala - a kit car based on Ford parts and a Ford Cosworth engine . As best I can find out The Dax Kamala dates from around 1996 and with the Cosworth engine would accelerate 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds and go on up to 160 mph .

Parts are predominantly ford so cost and availability are assured. The chassis can take the full range of Ford engines - ultimately a stage III race tuned 350bhp Cosworth engine mated with a lightly modified Ford MTX75 gearbox. All within a modern and rigid Triangulated space frame chassis which is both bonded and rivited to an aluminium floor pan. The car blasts from rest to 60mph in a paltry 3.9 seconds (Ferrari F50 Territory) and will still return a respectable 20-30 mpg if driven carefully!

Total build Cost: around £15,000 + your time to assemble.

Not something I expected to see or have ever seen before and considering there was only 30 or so kits ever produced , I am not surprised !!

For a fuller view take a look in the first comment box to see it in as a colour popped image .

We parked behind a surprisingly dirty Porsche at one of the beaches in Ucluelet and something about its state made me want to take a photo. My instinct was to try it in B&W which shows more abstract detail and seems to create a series of images within an image. HSS!

This parking ticket (???) was placed under the windscreen wiper of a crazily parked car in Kensington Church Street, Kensington, London......Shot taken with reflection for photographic affect..🤔

Thanks for visiting.

PADDY: “Scout! Bogart! Rosie!” *Looks around.* “Where are you?”

SCOUT: “Paddy! Paddy!” *Distant.*

*BEEP! BEEP!*

PADDY: “Scout! Scout is that you?”

SCOUT: “Yes! It’s me!” *BEEP! BEEP!* “Rosie, Bogart and me!” *BEEP! BEEP!* “We’re over here!”

PADDY: “Where?”

SCOUT: “Follow the sound of the horn, Paddy! Come and see!” *BEEP! BEEEEP!*

PADDY: *Follows sound of horn honking down the footpath.* “Goodness Scout! You’re in a camper van!”

SCOUT: “Hullo Paddy!” *Leans out of window. And waves enthusiastically.* “I know! And look! It’s pink! My favourite colour! Isn’t it glamorous?” *Strokes camper van’s door lovingly with paw.*

PADDY: “Goodness yes, Scout! It’s very striking!”

BOGART: “And it’s American too!” *Smiles.*

PADDY: “Oh! Hullo Bogart!” *Waves to Bogart.*

BOGART: “Hullo Paddy!” *Waves to Paddy from the passenger seat.*

PADDY: “How do you know its American, Bogart?”

BOGART: “Because the driver sits on the left-hand side!”

SCOUT: *Beeps horn. BEEP! BEEP!*

BOGART: “It’s very comfortable in here.” *Shuffles bottom on seat.*

PADDY: “But where did the campervan come from, Scout and Bogart?”

SCOUT: “Well, since your magic didn’t turn my pumpkin into a Scoutarella coach, Paddy...”

PADDY: “Well, I never actually said I had any magic, Scout.”

SCOUT: “Well, evidently the faeries were listening and they took pity on me, and provided this wonderful pink camper van for us. It was just sitting here under the tree, waiting to be driven.”

PADDY: “But Scout! You don’t know how to drive!” *Alarmed.*

SCOUT: *Oh Paddy!” *Giggles.* “Don’t worry! I will get some help from Daddy. I’ll tell him where to direct the camper van, and he can push it!”

BOGART: “That way we get the best of both worlds, Paddy! We can feel like we are driving, whilst being driven.” *Giggles.* "Think of it like an auto-pilot."

SCOUT: “Why don’t you get in the back with Rosie, Paddy? She is exploring the living areas of the camper van. Apparently, there is a stove, and even a refrigerator!”

BOGART: “Hopefully the faeries continue to provide, and there is food inside it! Grumbly tummy! Paddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs tummy vigorously.*

SCOUT: “Grumbly tummy! Paddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs tummy vigorously.*

Imagine the delight of Paddy, Scout, Bogart and Rosie when, whilst on a walk with me the other day, they came across a Barbie Dream Camper Van from 2017, left out on the footpath along with some other toys for anyone… or anybear to take! Recycling at its best!

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.

Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.

Bogart has travelled all the way from Georgia, via Alabama as a gift to me from a friend. He has lovely Southern manners and seems to be a fun and gentle soul with an inquisitive nature.

It is a familiar cliche for so many people, caught in the early morning rush to get to work .... held up at the lights on a rainy morning. And I can recall the feeling! But having lived in the country for more than 20 years now, I find there is something magical about all the bright lights twinkling in the rainy windscreen. I'm in no rush ;o)

The title is taken from the Gretchen Peters' song which starts

"It's raining in my coffee cup

Comin' down since I got up today, cold and gray

And lookin' in my rear view mirror

I could be anywhere but here I am, traffic jam"

The YouTube video is a live performance, the album version from "The Secret of Life" is even better. Full lyrics below.

It's raining in my coffee cup

Comin' down since I got up today, cold and gray

And lookin' in my rear view mirror

I could be anywhere but here I am, traffic jam

All these people without names

Everyday we face the same routine

Waiting for the light to turn green

The lady in the blue sedan

Combs her hair and steals a glance at me

Who is she? Does anybody hold her tight

Or does she spend her days and nights at home all alone

And over in the passing zone

All wrapped up inside their own daydreams

They're waiting for the light to turn green

Do they wonder who I am?

Do they know I'm not some damn machine

Waiting for the light to turn green?

What about the love I long for?

What about the child I want someday?

Where are they? What about my heart's desire?

What about these four bald tires I'm on? How long?

Page is a city in Coconino County, Arizona, United States, near the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Unlike other cities in the area, Page was founded in 1957 as a housing community for workers and their families during the construction of nearby Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River. In 1997, Antelope Canyon was discovered on Navajo land adjacent to Page. This natural slot canyon, formed by erosion, has created a steady increase in tourism for Page, as word spread of the beauty of the canyon.

The theme for week 49 is "Artistic Blur". Is a moving windscreen wiper art?

This may not be the final choice, but I quite liked it.

There is a little known American group Pickles Under Windshield Wipers to which I felt I ought to add a photo. Being in the UK these are, of course, windscreen wipers and I used pickled onions rather than the more ubiquitous pickled gherkins.

This is the dashboard of the Vintage Kombi (pic also in comments) that I found on my way home the other day!

Not only did I love his dashboard and the collection he had on it, but I love the window of the vintage shop, complete with skull too! I also like the way this obviously loved Kombi is a little worse for wear!

It would have been great if you could have seen a hint of the VW logo on the front of the vehicle under the dash, but this Kombi didn't have one on the front!

Happy Bokeh Wednesday peeps!

In this intimate portrait of an old locomotive's face, I focused on bringing out the character embedded in its weathered surfaces. The monochrome treatment emphasizes the dramatic design elements and engineering details that speak to a bygone era of rail travel.
