One if the many Montreal buildings that have huge glass window walls shows off the reflection of another building. Taken somewhere in downtown Montreal.
Inspired by Matt Rehrl, I photographed the wall of the Downtown Bellevue Light Rail station, and only later registered the weave in the glass pattern.
Initially started as a simple artist studio corner diorama, I wanted to build a slanted wall made entirely of windows. One thing lead to another until it finally became a full house with roof with the diorama portion being a cutaway view into the studio portion.
The 2 roof portions are removable to see more into the set. Paintings line the walls/posts and you can see the artist at work. Added details include: slanted exterior with huge windows, front porch, curved terrace, stairway to a bedroom, track lighting, easel and art supplies, multiple entrances and many other realistic touches.
Also check out my latest favorite build, the Taj Mageddon! (click to see and then navigate left/right to see the alternate angles).
I think these two rooms are my favorite by far in the entire series.
Caption reads: Effective screening by surrounding woodlands provides the living room with privacy and serenity. Carefully placed outdoor lighting prevents large mirrorlike reflections on the glass walls at night and adds a touch of cool green from outdoors to complement the warm melon and rust tones. The living room and dining room, forming one large room with glass walls on three sides, are separated by the fireplace.
I am so lucky as when I am at my computer desk, I can look across to the opposite building and see the most beautiful sunset reflections. I was watching this, then running to our small balcony to take photos, but what intrigued me here is that I could see the setting sun, double due to the two window frames, side by side. A few minutes after the sun went down, there was still a beautiful red glow of reflection, illuminating even the outline of some trees. Even the window above shows some of the reflections and they are bounced off the wiring caps on the balcony above.

The addition's roof and walls are framed of heavy timber which bear on steel wide flange floor framing which, in turn, bear on concrete foundations, capped with sloped slate slabs. Timbers are sized to accept pairs of doors.

C-Mine is a cultural and recreational centre in the Belgian city of Genk, which started as a development project of the former Winsterslag coal mine.
In 1917, the Winterslag coal mine was the first of the mines of the Kempens Bekken to go into production. On March 31, 1988, the mine closed its doors and in 1993 the mine site became protected heritage. The coal laundry, the brickyard, the workhouses and the cooling towers were demolished. The lamp and shower rooms (lampisterie), the management buildings (office building), the machine building with power plant and the collection machines (energy building), the warehouses, the horse stables and the two shaft bays have been preserved.
The buildings in neoclassical and Neo-Flemish Renaissance style date from the period 1912-1925. The two shafts date from 1916 (the oldest in Limburg) and 1963 (the last built in Limburg). In the 1990s, the city of Genk investigated some possibilities for repurposing the old mine site. In 2001, the city bought the complex from the Limburg Reconversion Company (LRM). The name C-Mine was chosen in 2005 through a competition. The C stands for "creativity".
I think my favorite room by far.
Caption reads: The living room and dining room, forming one large room with glass walls on three sides, are separated by the fireplace. The roughhewn stone wall, serving as a backdrop for the buffet in the dining room and the green of the heavily wooded area outdoors, accents the delicacy of both Japanese and Chinese accessories. The glass walls of this room make it possible for the beauty indoors and outdoors to be enjoyed at the same time. The vase expanse of open wall makes it possible to have longer hours of warm natural light.

WINDOWWALL
(As of October 2013)
The Parliament House and traffic on Mannerheimintie reflected in the glass wall of Kiasma. Iron oxide, which gives a greenish tint to glass, was removed from the glazing of the galleries to retain the natural colour of incoming light.
Eduskuntatalo ja Mannerheimintien liikenne heijastuvat Kiasman lasiseinään. Näyttelytilojen ikkunalaseista on poistettu vihreyttä aikaansaava rautaoksidi, jolloin sisään tuleva valo säilyttää luonnollisen värinsä.

In the Kiasma Theatre foyer, the curved eastern side of the building meets the straight western side, with the twisting staircase – known as pasta or spaghetti stairs – leading to the upper floors. The idea of crossing and twisting embodied in the name of Kiasma is visible here.

The relaxing space Rauha (‘Peace’) on the third floor offers a place to reflect on the experiences of the visit. The space and its adjacent balcony command views of the Music Centre and the National Museum.
3. kerroksen Rauha-tila on paikka rauhoittumiselle ja museokokemuksen sulattelemiselle. Rauhasta ja sen parvekkeelta avautuvat näkymät Musiikkitalon ja Kansallismuseon suuntaan.

General view from the east. The building is a previously existing carriage house around which dining/seminar rooms, toilet facilities and an entry hall were added. The former carriage house, topped by a mansard roof, was divided into a kitchen and meeting rooms.

The door on the second-floor balcony leads to the museum director’s office. Filled with light, the balcony offers views over the centre of Helsinki and the lobby of Kiasma. The proportions of the golden mean are repeated in the divisions of the window.
2. kerroksen parvelta vie ovi museonjohtajan työhuoneeseen. Valoa täynnä oleva tila tarjoaa näkymän Helsingin ydinkeskustaan sekä Kiasman aulaan. Kultaisen leikkauksen suhteet toistuvat ikkunan ruudutuksessa.
