Magda protects her eyes from stinging sand blown by strong winds on the Belgian coast. You can see the sand particles streaking past her dark jacket. I loved the wind in her hair.
Having both grown up along the coast, albeit in different parts of the world, we’re used to being sandblasted at the beach from time to time.
The Cedar Point Wind Energy project outside of Limon, CO. This wind farm has an installed power capacity of 250.2 megawatts with each turbine capable of putting out 1.8MW. The land it sits on still serves its function before the wind farm was built. Ranches and fields go on and these turbines quietly spin away on the winds. I have seen studies that these farms affect birds negatively… I am not sure on this as I saw an amazing array of wildlife living in this area, and thriving. In the time I was there I saw multiple bats, owls, hawks and larger birds of prey. Not to mention the coyotes, buffalo and pronghorns.
Often when I come back from the Harz I try to explain to people that whilst the car thermometer may only say say minus 7, as here, the wind chill is what hurts, Here a train gets ready for departure from Schierke for the final climb to the Brocken. The effect of the wind can clearly be seen and as this is coming straight at us as we took the photo , yes it was very uncomfortable

Yesterday, we had a snowstorm. Today, the wind was so strong that I couldn't keep my camera bag on my shoulder. Not much opportunity for photography! But, here's a peek at the inlet.
A wind turbine blade being hauled south on US Highway 183 north of Austin, Texas.
In other news, I am apparently incapable of cleaning my camera body before a trip. Since I had to remove the dust in GIMP after exporting as a TIF from RawTherapee, here's the EXIF you're missing out on:

The wind was blowing pretty hard that that, so I decided to head to
the the hills to the north of Lisbon and try and do some photos in one
of the wind farms.
another shot from the White Sands National Park in New Mexico.
I've adjusted the licence on this photo so it can be downloaded for the purpose of using as a desktop/screensaver image.
Stand in the rain at the end of a sea wall, wind gusting from all directions, my camera in a rain sleeve, I watched this man windsurf the wild seas off Port Macquarie. The waves were reported to be six metres, it's hard to tell from where I was standing, but it was no duck pond. Of course the beach was closed, but he and two surfers were out in these incredible conditions.
