A few years ago, on a hike in the western Eifel, I discovered a forest full of blossoming wild garlic, as I had never seen him before, pure meditation.

I reassembled and reworked the panorama with new software. Here you can see it in a larger version, hope you like it.

Allium ursinum

The Latin specific name ursinum translates to 'bear' and refers to the supposed brown bear's taste for the bulbs; folk tales describe the bears consuming them after awakening from hibernation.

The photo was created with a historical manual lens from the 1970s. 50mm and aperture F1.8

for a HMBT !

Unfortunately the times of delicious wild garlic pesto are over again for this season as the leaves become more chewy and the aroma diminishes when it starts to bloom :-((

Sharpness is overrated 😉

Many thanks for your favs and comments, much appreciated

A year ago today around 6:30 a.m. in a wild garlic forest in the Volcanic Eifel.

The woodland of Hainich National Park with its beech trees and wild garlic is so beautiful, especially in spring.

Last week in a beech forest with a carpet of white blossoming wild garlic and full of the beguiling scent.

Another picture from a beautiful morning in the wild garlic forest 10 days ago.

What could express the spring better than the wild garlic blossom in the beech forest.

A new shoot has grown from an old stump into a straight and strong tree - and as if that weren't miracle enough, a wild garlic plant has also settled in a hollow in the old stump.

Woodland covered in wild garlic, otherwise known as ramsons. Found in a little bit of woodland only a 5 minute drive away from home - I was enchanted ! Firstly because they happen only once a year, in spring, and look and smell delicious. Secondly, because of the light filtering through the trees. I love garlic ! If you like garlic too, you can actually use the leaves of ramsons in salads and salad dressings and other recipes, of which I'm sure there are many.

I'm happy to say I've now got Topaz Studio working again, so I edited this photo there, finished off in PicMonkey with a light texture of my own added.

Thanks for looking ! Have a wonderful weekend and week to come, everyone and may your days be filled with sweet and lovely sights and feelings.

We had beautiful sunshine in Durham at the weekend. Exactly what we had been waiting for, so we could have a woodland shoot during wild garlic season. The fragrance is amazing. We brought some back home to add to food. ❤️😍😋 Happy new week all.

A wonderful smell during my forest walk

It's very cold, gloomy and grey here today with torrential rain thrown in for good measure, so here's a little wild garlic flower from the archives!

Many thanks for all the very kind comments and faves and apologies for being a bit awol! I look forward to catching up with everyone this evening.

The limit is the organizing element of the world but also the tool that man has given himself to tame his fear: the infinite.

Can’t believe it’s been over 3 years since I started my journey with nature and photography before the start of lockdown, a lot has happened since then, some good, some not so good, but my passion for photography has never left me, and it helped me to get through lockdown. I ended up in the news, both in the papers and on the TV 3 times during mental health weeks, 2020, 21 and 22, advocating the benefits of nature to your mental health. I still have my battles but I feel stronger than I was 3 years ago. Thanks to Danny for his support and for putting up with my craziness. 😂😍

Photo was taken on Saturday at Cassop Vale Nature reserve in Durham, a place that I visited so many times during the lockdown, for some nature therapy.

Love to all for your support and encouragement over the last 3 years. ❤️❤️

Even if most of your thoughts on Christmas Eve revolve around the Christmas party, the big meal, the family and the presents ...

we should not forget that all this would not be possible without an intact nature and environment!

That's why we should continue to work towards not polluting and damaging our wonderful planet even more!.

For peace, respect and responsible behaviour

towards all beings on our precious, little planet!

Merry Christmas!
