The Culver Hotel was built in 1924 and gradually sank into decay mode, such that it was almost razed in the 1990's. But someone had a plan, restored it - eventually along with much of the surrounding area - and it is now a highly rated boutique motel with 46 rooms and facilities for entertaining. Culver City, CA

Dame's Rocket (Hesperis matronalis)

Native to Eurasia, Dame's Rocket was initially introduced to the US during the Colonial period as a garden plant. Although its commonly included in wildflower seed mixes, its listed as an invasive species in several states (CO, CT, IN, MD, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WI, and WV.) and can be found in wetlands, woodlands, agricultural areas and along road sides. It's believed that the species produces compounds which can reduce the growth of other plants - know as allelopathic tendencies.

Although I've not tired them, they are edible.
