A glorious blazing red with pale yellow throats and rich brown pollen. Beautiful all wet!
Numbering over 300 species, vireyas can be found growing across much of S.E. Asia, principally in New Guinea, Borneo, Sulawesi, Sumatra and the Philippines. Although these are tropical regions, vireyas mostly grow in cool mountainous areas as epiphytes high in the tall trees of the cloud forest or in more open ground in shrubberies. Here the climate is more temperate and this makes the vireya ideal for wider cultivation across the world.

Don’t let this fool you she’s still calling the shots. After being outside during a long thunderstorm she asked to come inside the lanai where she spent the night. I left a nightlight on for her because it made me feel better. She didn’t get into any mischief overnight and was ready to go outdoors and hunt after breakfast that first night. This is the second time she asked to come in and it’s obvious she’s quite comfortable. Meanwhile our other cats stay confined in the house the introductions are going at a snails pace for them. Anyway I hope you enjoy seeing another part of Lily’s world continuing saga.
Happy Tuesday!
Lily found a semi shaded spot for a quick catnap while I was puttering in the garden. She’s so darn cute but still feral although she utilizes the lanai when it rains and stays until breakfast the next morning.
Happy Monday!
Animals and humans aren’t that different both have routines. This routine has been one of Lily’s since we watched a raccoon come into the back of the garden one evening. She watched as it moved through then like a shot she was off like a rocket chasing the raccoon. No doubt the raccoon understood it was not welcome here. It was a little mind blowing to witness such territorial behavior from her. Ever since this has been her after dinner routine she walks out to the spot of the encounter and guard duty begins. In my life I’ve never seen a cat be so possessive. She’s still not a lap cat and prefers outdoors over indoors while demonstrating her appreciation for us being her people and this being her home.
Happy Monday!
Hi There!
I wouldn't have believed it until I saw this happen, but the parent physically corrected this very cheeky gosling not once, but twice, the second time causing the gosling to fall over. I am not certain what the gosling did wrong, but it was certainly something very naughty. I've always been fascinated by bird and animal behaviour, so it was fascinating to watch all of this transpire.
After the two "adjustments," the gosling looked as cheeky as ever, but kept its distance from the family. I guess this was the "Wild Child!"
I want to thank you for your views and your comments. I do love hearing from you! Have a great weekend!

I shot a video of the Moon and made this video with it. I really liked the results, although I later decided less ai images would have been better perhaps. Still it works great, it's fun check it out!

A quick edit from a little adventure that I took today to the Toronto Islands. Is was a gorgeous day with surprisingly few people, which was such a treat. I was even able to sit on a sandy beach for a while with hardly a soul in sight. Bliss! I love Toronto so much. It’s such a wonderful, friendly city. (Well, this has been my experience wherever I visit in Canada. I’m so grateful to live in this country.)
Sending out love, gratitude and warm wishes to all of you! 💛✨

woah...made it on the flickr blog today! i'm well honored. very unexpected. i appreciate all the love! heather you're amazing.
Been hangin' out around the blossoms since the best turn out yet.
Well, it IS only a few steps from the back door.. ;)
The 'Drunken Parrot' tree is only about 6 years old since I planted it, and looks like it's matured enough now to bring forth an amazing explosion of flowers and give me some pods.
A steady parade of feathered friends drop in all through the day for the highly sugared nectar, which apparently is well known that the birds will gorge so much that they get a wee bit tipsy.
Perhaps this is why they're tolerating my presence better than usual, as I shoosh the girls, leave them glowering at me through the flyscreen and sneak out without them at various times to stalk these lovelies.
A few seemed to be curious about the beep of the camera, and slowed down their maverick jumping about to ponder me for a bit from the lower branches.
Or maybe they were just sloshed…. hic*
Anyway, I was over the moon when I looked at the shots to see I actually got some of the really close ones in focus for a change.
I was pleased to get this one in particular, as it shows the finer detail of the plumage.
How neat are these feathers, hey :)
Besides the fact he maybe flying 'over the limit', this is what they look like in the wild, so healthy on their natural foods and blissfully happy in their freedom.
No ed's..
Blow it up large :)
