Japanese Rose, this is on a huge bush that is stunning when the flowers all open, quite near home too.

The leaves of memory seemed to make

A mournful rustling in the dark.

I look back to that day we drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco, via the Pacific Coast Highway and it dawns on me that it was one of the most exciting trips our family has ever had...

"All parts of the plant are poisonous (contains hydrocyanic acid) and could be fatal if ingested. The plant is placed in Toxicity Category 4, the category "generally considered non-toxic to humans,"5 However, the berries are considered toxic to cats and grazing animals.6 The berries also contain alkaloids such such as nantenine, which is used in scientific research as an antidote to MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), the drug commonly known as ecstasy). Birds are generally unaffected by these toxins, and will disperse the seeds. through their droppings. However, excessive consumption of the grains can kill birds such as Bombycilla cedrorum". The Game Wildbush Of Spring (Part 1)

This is bird of prey country, raptors like falcons, hawks and eagles live and hunt here, even a pair of White-tailed eagles have settled in and buildt a nest. In this series of photos, Im not looking at the birds, but rather, their habitat, the wildbush that attracts them.

In a country like Denmark (not including Greenland), where the nature has been cultivated and domesticated almost everywhere, this is unique and the result of an active policy by the local society, that 20 years ago decided to give this landscape back to the nature by shutting down a water pumpstation allowing the lake to rise and letting the forest grov wild.
