Trivia -

Wild boar or wild pigs, being omnivores are predominantly herbivores but will gladly feed on carrion if the opportunity arises.

Highly adaptable in diet, pigs along with other scavengers help in keeping the ecosystem free of the bodies of dead animals.

when the sun is blazing, the javali rest deep in this inaccessible spot...a few rustles and grunts are the clue. They emerge at dusk to feed on the neighbors' garden.

In Austria pigs are considered symbols of good luck, wealth, and prosperity. This is so in many countries in Europe. So have a fabulous New Year’s Eve and a happy New Year filled with luck, health, wealth and prosperity 🍀

We were walking through a wooded area in Arroyo Frio and as we came out into a clearing there was a family of Wild Boar - four adults and two hoglets - foraging in the grass. They all did a runner as soon as they saw us! I will post the mum tomorrow.

Taken in Arroyo Frio, Andalucia, Spain.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fav my images.

It was the first time I was able to take a photo of a wild boar from such close range. It wasn't safe because it was a female with piglets.

Wildschwein - Begegnung am frühen Morgen

We saw one running across the road, but I was not ready and missed the opportunity to take a good photo.

Somewhere on the rural road in Argentina.

My contribution to Valentine's Day... you might get a sense that I'm not a hopeless romantic LOL

Anyway, these two did seem to have lots of feelings for each other. Happy Valentine's Day!

Bois du Breuil, Forest of Breuil. A rich forest, part of the commune of Équemauville and overlooking the communes (towns/villages) of Honfleur, Vasouy and Pennedepie as well as the River Seine. It belonged to the Dukes of Normandy until 1204 when King Philippe Auguste conquered Normandy and the forest passed to the French kings. Located 4km from Honfleur, the Bois du Breuil is one of the rare forests on the coastline and is open to the public. This forest, covering 120 hectares, is the property of the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Conservancy). Great variety of species (32 listed species including oak, beech, Scots pine and maritime pine), a fine population of naturalised rhododendrons, large 1,200m path lined with beech trees dating from 1850. Preserved natural wealth thanks to meticulous management in keeping with nature. Access via the RD62 (Equemauville-Pennedepie road). 2 car parks. Round trip, approximately 5km, offering superb views over the Seine bay. www.conservatoire-du-littoral.fr/siteLittoral/115/28-bois... and www.calvados-tourisme.co.uk/diffusio/en/discover/natural-...

Dark forest kingdom of wild boars and maybe some wolves

Overcast and drizzly today, so playing with long exposures in the flat light was the order of the day...

Wildschwein im Wildpark Höllohe ......

A sliver of sunlight on these two sleeping wild boars in the New Forest.

This is the reverse view of my sunset photo “bay of pigs” posted last week. This is the view up the coast of Capo de Figari, with the last light of the day catching Stazione Radio Guglielmo Marconi the highest point and Mount Ruju sticking its top above the headland on the right. The long exposure helps to fill the sky with those lovely pink clouds.
