Taken one Autumn afternoon - slow shutter gave a great effect.

Something other than the usual landscape photos. My cat shot in wideangle. He doesn't look too happy about it tho... :)

Have a great weekend everyone (this is "Memorial Day weekend," which marks the unofficial start to summer in the U.S.). I'll be taking a break from posting photos this weekend, but will do my best to comment on my friends' work (but I can make no promises).

Thanks for all your visits and comments this past month. I've made some great friends on Flickr since I started posting five weeks ago, and I've learned so much from seeing the amazing work you all do, as well as from reading your helpful comments on my stuff. Enjoy the kickoff to what promises to be a fun summer -- despite the economy.

Autumn officially began September 23 here and there was also a full moon that night. I hoped it would rise above this lake but I was off by a bit, and caught it a little way down the road.

The camera was a little too far away for comfort for this I have to admit - probably about 3 minutes walk/climb away - on an equally precarious pinnacle

These photos have been transferred over from my old Flickr Account, which is why you may recognise them, but not the username they're associated with.

And this plaster cast seems to be able to tolerate it! I am taking my wide-angle lens to its limits by focusing at the minimum distance (about 20 cm - the face is approx. 30 cm) at F22. Two LED lights. The result is quite remarkable, though 'portrait' is not what this lens is made for.

European common frog (Rana temporaria) - Tyrolean Alps, Austria

A common frog in habitat in the Austrian Alps. A beautiful area to live but full of its own kind of challenges, yet R. temporaria is up to them. It survives and flourishes in the cold environment high up in the mountains where other species could not eke out a living. They seem to be rather successful as I saw quite a large number of them during my hike through the Alps, they were seen moving about in the dewy grass and anything more than a cursory inspection of any mountain stream seemed to reveal atleast one of these frogs.

I took this shot over one year ago and had not yet posted it. This is the inside of the center and illustrates the ornate nature of its architecture.

Our local suburban beach shot against the sun with a wideangle zoom lens. A duo tone conversion to emphasize light effects and geometry.
