Held in The Oakdale Workmen's Institute was built in 1917 to serve as a focus for social, educational and cultural life within the newly established coal mining community there. It was funded by a loan from the Tredegar Iron and Coal Company, which the miners then repaid over the following years.

Day off work today so the Sunday club (Thursday splinter group) Dave K and I went to the Folk Museum at St Fagans Nr Cardiff. Excellent day weather wise and pleasant walk around the buildings and exhibits.

Done is the style of a Bass Pro Shop. Located near the Wisconsin River. On my way to Midwest Weaver's Conference.
Former Road Toll House at Burton Hill or Cole Park Gate, now Pike House, Cole Park, Burton Hill, ST PAUL MALMESBURY WITHOUT (NORTH WILTSHIRE District). The principal structure is thought to have been built for the Malmesbury - Third District Turnpike Trust in the 19th century in the form of a lodge with bold ornamentation. Currently domestic property with only minor changes to the original tollhouse structure on the A429, Chippenham to Malmesbury road. External features; single-storey on rectangular, prominent porch, floor plan, having a gabled roof, with walls mainly of squared stone, roofed in slate, round arch headed windows with casements, canopied with a square headed doorway; canted bay windows on either side of door with single outshut roof over these . This is a long way down the road to be the Burton Hill tollhouse, though it corresponds to the listing information as a tollhouse. The style is unusual and in the absence of documentary information, it must still be suspected to be a lodge, perhaps for Cole Park on the other side of the road (maybe moved here).
