Ashland, WI (Ashland County)
Ashland is a city in Ashland and Bayfield counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is the county seat of Ashland County. The city is a port on Lake Superior, near the head of Chequamegon Bay. The population was 8,216 at the 2010 census, all of whom resided in the Ashland County portion of the city. The unpopulated Bayfield County portion is in the city's southwest, bordered by the easternmost part of the Town of Eileen.
In 1854, Ohioans Asaph Whittlesey and George Kilborn set out from La Pointe to explore the head of Chequamegon Bay. Whittlesey built a 10 ft × 14 ft cabin in Ashland. His wife, Lucy, and daughter, Eugenia, joined him in August and prepared to winter in their new home. Signs of settlement soon began to take place. The first community dance was held at their house. The Reverend L.H. Wheeler preached the first sermon on the first Independence Day that was observed there. This village was the location of the first post office and polling place for county offices. Sunday school was also conducted on the premises. (1)

Now houses the kitchen of Pizzeria Piccola, which is commonly found on lists of best pizza in Milwaukee. It is very good, and in the summer the al fresco seating next door also hosts a Patio Music Series in the summer. We visited in June of this year and heard a great performance by the Jackson Park Jazz Orchestra.

Milwaukee, WI (Milwaukee County)
The Bradley Center (1988) (known as the BMO Harris Bradley Center under sponsorship agreements) was a multi-purpose arena located on the northwest corner of North Vel R. Phillips Ave. and West State Streets in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States.
It was home to the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA and the Marquette University men's basketball team. It was also the home of the Milwaukee Wave of the MISL, from 1988 to 2003, the original Milwaukee Mustangs of the AFL from 1994 to 2001, along with the second incarnation of the team from 2009 to 2012, the Badger Hockey Showdown from 1989 to 2002, and the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL (and formerly of the IHL) from 1988 to 2016.
The arena employed about 50 full-time employees, mostly tradespeople and about 700 part-time employees to help during events.
Following the opening of the new Fiserv Forum in late August 2018, the Bradley Center was demolished to make way for future development. Assets from the arena, including display boards, scoreboards, equipment and sports and concert memorabilia were auctioned off. (1)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
Got a skeleton in your closet? John Hawks does. His physical anthropology lab at the University of Wisconsin contains cupboards full of skulls and bones. These skeletal remains and reproductions used for teaching range in age from decades to millennia old.
I shot this photo for Science Illustrated last time I was in Madison, but it didn't get used (they ran a portrait I shot instead).

Strobist info:
Shot at 1/125 F4, about one stop under the ambient flourescent lights. One strobe with pocket wizard at left gelled to match bouncing off wall and ceiling. Cabinet was very dark so second strobe (Nikon SB28 I think) inside the box, under the skulls. Not gelled, set to 1/4 power pointed straight up. At first I wanted to just blow out the inside of the cabinet entirely. Then I realized if I played with the angle and brought it down a stop I could bring back just enough detail inside to give a sense of depth.
