The idea puts came looking postcards sold in Italy. The first photo is just a copy of the work since the original photo is prohibited. The second is in the Boboli Gardens which is a maze ...

Left: David is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture, created by Michelangelo between 1501 and 1504, It measures 4.34 meters tall (5.14 meters with the base) and it is drawn a block of white Carrara marble, abandoned after the failure of other sculptors. Michelangelo took advantage of the narrow block of marble and around one of its defects (a hole in which he widened the gap between the right arm and torso). Michelangelo's David has shown, a sling (leather strap using slingshot) by hand, just before his fight against Goliath. Initially placed in front of the Palazzo Vecchio to symbolize the determination of a young republic against the tyrant, the original is from 1873, exhibited in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence.

Right: The Fontana del Bacchino ("Fountain of Bacchus small"), which is in the Boboli Gardens, northwest of the Pitti Palace in Florence on a wall of the corridor that leads vasari near the garden of the Pitti up .It is also called Fontanella del Nano Morgante ("Fountain of the dwarf Morgante") as it is actually a statue of the dwarf Morgante named ironically, the favorite of Cosimo. It is a white marble statue 116 cm high, which dates from 1560 and the most famous work of Valerio Cigoli. Bacchus is depicted riding a turtle that spits water in the bowl they overlook. His style, called "grotesque" is typical mannerist gardens Cinquecento and Seicento (Italian sixteenth and seventeenth centuries). The statue is a copy exposed.

The image has been edited to remove the lines around the black mica-flecked granite that alludes to the night sky, and the Old World.

What I like about it is the speckled grain almost gives it a damaged print look. It gives a nice warming tint to the whole shot further lending to it's older classic feel which was my immediate thought and feel when I looked at it. Initially, I increased the hue and saturation to enhance colours but it just didn't look authentic so I reverted to the original.

What I don't really like and am sure most of you would agree is that the subjects are not in the most interesting of actions. I do not feel compelled to engage with them, to take a closer look as I might be if they were facing the camera and laughing, or pointing at something. Therein lies the issue of me being shy, furtive and forceful at the same time. There are days I have the guts to snap and fly out like a hawk, and some days I don't. Sometimes, people are happy to reveal themselves to the camera perhaps they believe they'd never see me again. And sometimes it can be full on. On this day, I didn't have the nerve to shoot the couple from the front and had to settle for a dull view.

One of my favourite pieces at the Yorkshire Scultpure Park. Quite surreal in nature, this photo doesn’t give any of impression of the scale. This is a detail from Héros de lumière by Igor Mitoraj.
