The Whitaker House is a two-story plus attic home with four bedrooms and one bathroom which can also be used as a multi-purpose room. The great room opens up to a large glass back wall looking out onto a generous back porch with glass doors. To the right of the entry is a two-story sitting atrium. The second floor houses three of the bedrooms including a large master bedroom with its own fireplace. On this floor there is also a ceiling hatch offering access to the very spacious unfinished attic. Click the hatch to drop a ladder to walk up to this large extra space that can be used for just about anything you can imagine.

The home is available at the main store:

A name as solid as the town itself. One left after many have closed. Still a part of the community, still a friend of the folks that shop there. An evolution of needs that has changed over the years but still caters to help us plant a garden, fix a water leak, or paint the house. So happy to see one still standing and functioning like so many before.

This past Saturday Flickr friend F-Stop Philm and I stopped at the old.

Whitaker School, District #90, in Jackson Township in the Smoky Hills of Kansas. At this time I have not had any luck finding any information about the school. Based on other schools like this in the area, it was most likely built between the late 1880's to the early 1900's and was closed in the late 1950's to early 1960's. Image made with a Pentax K 5.

Taken with my dad’s (probably my great grandfather’s) camera at @whitakermuseum. Considering it was made in about 1900 it’s working very well
