Whisply clouds and blue skies stretch as far as the eye can see. Weathering and erosion from water and wind are evident along the soft Navajo Sandstone canyon walls in the Grand Staircase Escalate National Monument.

This is my second project for “Keen, fitful gusts are whisp’ring here and there,” by John Keats for the July Craft-a-Poem Challenge:

KEEN, fitful gusts are whisp’ring here and there

Among the bushes half leafless, and dry;

The stars look very cold about the sky,

And I have many miles on foot to fare.

Yet feel I little of the cool bleak air,

Or of the dead leaves rustling drearily,

Or of those silver lamps that burn on high,

Or of the distance from home’s pleasant lair:

For I am brimfull of the friendliness

That in a little cottage I have found;

Of fair-hair’d Milton’s eloquent distress,

And all his love for gentle Lycid drown’d;

Of lovely Laura in her light green dress,

And faithful Petrarch gloriously crown’d.

I wanted to make a scarflette or wrap that would protect the speaker (if the speaker were female) from the “cool bleak air” on the long night walk. I modified the Victoriana Scarflette to have knitted leaves at the end of the ties (instead of crocheted flowers) to represent the “dead leaves rustling drearily.” Finally, I chose green as a nod to Laura’s green dress (though my green isn’t “light green,” I think the dead leaf color matches the poem’s mood better).

Some random pictures along the way of a walk in Autumn.

Two days before leaving for a camping trip in New Mexico, the circuit board in my old camera went bad. So I made do with four disposable cameras from Walmart.

This is the Pecos National Forest in New Mexico.

I went on a pretty amazing field trip this weekend for work to San Diego. We stayed on Coronado Island right on the water, and this is from the edge of the hotel property early on a foggy morning.

Michelangelo's statue of David overlayed with smoke trails.

I see a bird breaking away on a solo flight..

She had just been thrashed by Molly Brown, a nine year old sow who literally went up the tree after her...

Heath and Whisp - Back to Nature from Bounce This Poses

The sun is just coming over over the Santa Catalina Mountains east of Tucson, Arizona. A whisp of clouds hovers over the mountains and turns to gold from the light of a new day.

Just ten lousy days out of the last sixty have had more blue sky then clouds, this miss hurts big time....

Just a whisp of fibers left in spring, to carry seeds in the wind
