The real treasure of this place is now the expensive award winning whisky that is produced here. New distilled spirit only becomes whisky after being rested in barrels for a minimum of three years. Of course the longer the better, especially if stored in old wine barrels. This gives each barrel of whisky its own unique flavour.

Officially now known as a Canada Jay, to me this will always be called a Whisky Jack. These amiable jays are found at higher elevations and are well-known for interacting with people when food is about.
This one was feeding on the seeds it was digging out of the small cone you can see here.

I just love this whole series. Maybe because the light was brilliant for just a few moments. The scene was fleeting, making it more special.

I'd dive upon da bottom

The Snow Roads (www.visitcairngorms.com/inspire-me/snowroads/ ) Scenic Route is a 144-km (90-mile) journey which takes you from the picturesque market town of Blairgowrie to the traditional Highland town of Grantown-on-Spey. The route traverses the highest public road in Britain taking you through some of the most outstanding landscapes in the eastern Cairngorms. The road links the communities of Braemar, Ballater and Tomintoul with a range of natural and cultural attractions. Three stunning Scenic Route Installations provide new opportunities to stop and explore this wild and beautiful highland countryside. A Cairngorms photo-post is also located at each installation to allow you to capture changes in the landscape. With such a range of activities for families, explorers and sightseers alike, take your time to relax with an overnight stay or two in your choice of accommodation along the way and stop at one of the many cafes and restaurants to sample some highland hospitality. Travel the scenic way on the Snow Roads North or South with the opportunity to link to many other areas in Scotland including Royal Deeside, the Malt Whisky Trail or the North Coast 500. The Snow Roads are slow roads. Take your time to enjoy the views, villages and attractions along the route. You will experience steep hills, ‘blind’ summits, tight bends and single-track roads in part so be sure to drive with care and courtesy. On narrow sections, please be aware of other drivers and use passing places to allow others to go by safely and continue on their journey. www.visitcairngorms.com/plan-your-visit/about-the-cairngo... Cats and glassware... Heidi inspecting my whisky bottles reminded me of one of Francesco Marciuliano's poems:
"Trust
When I expose my belly to you
It means I trust you
When I sit with my back to you
It means I really trust you
When I fall asleep next to you
It means I completely trust you
So I'd appreciate if you'd show me
That same level of trust
As I quickly weave through six champagne flutes
Three wineglasses
And your favorite crystal goblet
At least for that half second
Before we both realize
What a horrible, horrible mistake you have made"
Thankfully no bottles were harmed during this photoshoot LOL

I don't often photograph these birds, but I'm awfully fond of them. Today I was photographing some elk and was happy to hear their calls and then find myself surrounded by a flock of them. Paid a visit to a local whisky dealer to shoot some pictures e.g. for their website
I am sad to say my lovely boy Whisky passed over the bridge today. He had been struggling for a couple of weeks and this morning we had to let him go - he was 18 and his body said, no more.
Rest easy amongst the flowers, my boy.
Finally got a visit to the world's largest collection of Scotch Whisky and it was every bit as impressive as I had hoped.
I am not a rich man, so I don't drink whisky very often, but ohhh would I love to. This image is about 10% of the entire collection of the room containing 3400 bottles - and the room itself must also exist in heaven.

It was a long day in the office. I spent my time on the long conference table. All i need is a glass of Scotch. It was good, then i felt satisfied.
