'Just revisiting some photos from when we fostered "the Stripes"... That's Cousin on top, Cricket on the right... but I don't remember what we called the 3rd one (who was adopted).
Cricket is perched on top of the Whiskas cat bed. It is a piece of vintage plastic that was a promotion by the Whiskas cat food company in the 1950's.
Whiskers play a significant role in a cat's life. They are tactile sensations, decoration, and intimidation of the enemy!

Going through old photos, I noticed the image of Otis on the right. He is always the most likely candidate to lounge in the Whiskas cat head bead, but I've never noticed the similarity of this particular shot to my needlefelted cat before... I made the sculpture on the left in 2013. The photo of Otis on the right is a year later, in July 2014.
Cousin usually looks terrified in photographs. I like this one because it looks like he's reading a crystal ball.
(I tried converting it to black-and-white with my came-with-the-computer photo editor; you can see the results in the next frame.)
Between the yellow walls, and the low-angled winter sun streaming in the window, the cat bed becomes a sun cave. I would like one in my size for an afternoon nap.
This shot was taken in about 1993 when Mum was living in Kensington, Liverpool. When Mum died in 2001 I took Whiskas in to live with our older cat and they co existed quite peacefully for a number of years. Whiskas lived to the ripe old age of 17.
I am so grateful every time I look at Charlie. In March he quit eating and was misdiagnosed as having cancer (in an advanced stage); we actually called to schedule his euthanasia. But then we waited one more day, and he started eating again! We got a second opinion about a month ago and he does not have cancer at all. For months, though, we looked at him every day as if it might be the last time we saw him & we wanted to memorize every detail.
