15:52 Out of my comfort zone
Anyone who knows me knows I love to cook. Recently I am trying my hand at baking. Trying new recipes always puts me out of my comfort zone. Also out of my comfort zone is still life photography and food photography.

Sunset light over the patterns in the sand there at Great Sand Dunes National Park. 40 mile per hour winds were blowing across the sand here perpendicular to the capture. With sand in the air, it stung a lot!

Active only in the night in Costa Rica.
Just in front of the whip-like legs is a pair of scary hinged appendages known as pedipalps. This “sit and wait” predator uses its pedipalps to capture prey in much the same fashion as mantid. It uses its spiny forelegs to grab its victims. A rapid strike of the pedipalps ensnares the prey in comb-like teeth.
Rather large, around 20cm overall.

This massive Whip Scorpion was found in a cave in Thailand, where it was patrolling on the hunt for cave crickets!
Whip Scorpions are arachnids but are not a spider or a scorpion, instead they are in the order Amblypygi! They are found in virtually every tropical country and are always a sight to behold at night!🌳🔦

They are often called uropygids in the scientific community based on an alternative name for the order, Uropygi (which may then also include the order Schizomida). The name "whip scorpion" refers to their resemblance to true scorpions and possession of a whiplike tail. "Vinegaroon" is based on their ability when attacked to discharge an offensive liquid which contains acetic acid, producing a vinegar-like smell.
