A flock of Muscovy Ducks have moved into our neighborhood -- wild fowl (not really ducks). . . they don't quack and if you find a Barbary Duck on your fine dining menu -- that is a Muscovy. We got close enough to this fellow before he rose up and flapped a warning. . . his natural, superhero mask does add a charming touch.

Whimsy: (noun) an odd or fanciful notion; something quaint or unusual.
I look at nature and can't help but admire her design. A swirl here, a twirl there...all for the seed pod of a dead flower. But, why not create something pretty and playful? We can be so serious. It would do us good to throw a touch of whimsy into our lives.

I always find such interesting subjects to shoot when I'm visiting my sister-in-law. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!! It's going to be very cold here in most of the US!!
OK, how can you not love Whimsy? She has such a sweet face, a pleasant personality and was very polite. Really enjoyed our time visiting her in Busch Gardens, Tampa. This was our first up close, animal encounter, and we'd highly recommend it. We were paired up with a trainer who initially showed us (through the glass wall) a number of hand signals which prompted Whimsy to move in different ways so that she could be examined to ensure that she didn't have any injuries. Then we took turns having her follow our signals and having her pose as she would to have her heartbeat, ears, and mouth checked, a shot administered (she was happy that the glass was in place) and to jump up and touch a high spot on a wall to ensure that her mobility is solid. Learned so much about gorillas, but the highlights were connecting 1:1 with her and then going to a viewing are, in the open, which is closer than the general public can access, so that we could watch the two gorillas in more of a natural habitat tailored for them.
I thought I was going out to take a few pics at Whimsy Flower Farm. Ended up the evening with over 600 photos.

In a sun-dappled garden, young Eliza laid in the grass , her ears attuned to the delicate symphony of nature. Amidst the floral chorus, a tiny hummingbird flitted near, its wings a blur of iridescent magic. Entranced, Eliza leaned closer, her heart dancing to the bird's enchanting chatter. It spoke of secrets whispered among blossoms, of dreams woven into the threads of sunlight. With each flutter, it carried tales of forgotten lands and impossible adventures. Eliza giggled, imagining herself riding on its back, soaring through clouds and painting the sky with laughter. In that moment, she found kinship in the whimsy of nature's song.
Another sandstorm,
thorns for lunch,
water water
whither art thou?
and whoever thought
camel races sport
have never run
in desert heat,
alas miles and miles
on burning feet,
no oasis in sight
nor shade tree
only sore hoofs
endless drudgery
(yes, it’s hump day)
and now identity crisis:
my ancestry DNA
came back – not a camel,
I’m a dromedary.
