This is one of the old salt marshes on the east side of the Dutch Wadden island of Ameland.
Here the sea has free acces during high tide to the land that was conquered from hundred of years ago in a primitive way.
The salt marsh is cleaved with creeks that are very deep due to the abrasive effect of the sea water being drawn in and out.
The grazing takes place by flocks of sheep.
The wind on the Wadden island of Ameland and the other Wadden islands has a predominant force of 4 Beaufort, but during heavy north-western storms the wind can reach wind force 12!
During these severe storms, a ferocious surf engulfs this salt marsh........

Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI–IX
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He was also known as "The Crazy Diamond Syd". Barrett was a very creative musician and is considered one of the rock icons, with a strong influence on many artists, very especially to David Bowie. Syd Barrett is a key piece to understand the evolution of rock in the 70s.. Excessive drug use, especially LSD, caused him serious mental health problems. Syd Barrett died in 2006 at the age of 60. Always shine diamond.
The Universal is a science fiction song written as a tribute to two films by film director Stanley Kubrick. In the video, the Blur members wear outfits similar to Alex and his gang of thugs, the protagonists of the movie "A Clockwork Orange." The image used for the cover of the single alluded to what is possibly Kubrick's best film: "2001: To Space Odyssey."

Times have been rough lately...but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and where there is light, there is hope.

Okay, I know that's not a hard one :) He was fishing there and I had no idea that there might be fish in this marsh.
I think most of you know this place by now, as I love to go there, and had the opportunity to stop for a few minutes last week. It was a cloudy day but that's how I like it.
A Least Tern looking for a hopeful mate so he can give her this nice Spearing Fish at Manasquan Inlet NJ.
Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis). I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this little fish head and eyes poking out of this pelican's bill - as well as the tail of another one just about to disappear down his gullet!
Equipped with my bright yellow wellies...almost as bright as the mid afternoon sun, I managed to navigate to the other side of the cascades at the foot of this beauty...shame about the highlights...but with a sun that bright, the highlights are kinda inevitable...and also look quite interesting across the falls. So, I ditched the hdr option and kept them!

There's something about mushrooms that always makes me think of magic and fairies. Not seen one yet though... :-(
One of my recent in-camera monochromes with the helios lens, but given a slight creative twist for fun. (Produced by adding coloured pixel layers and using blend ranges to restrict the colours to just the highlights. With a bit of masking to get the colours where I wanted them. [The colours were purposefully kept really subtle, so don't worry if you miss them!] )
