my grandfather played with the Banjo Tainers. Three banjos and a piano, they played regionally in Michigan, Wisconsin and Canada in the 50's and 60's. Rehearsals were generally at my grandparents house and my brother and I "played" the maracas (in the 60's :))
This is his pick and tiny banjo pin. One of the best pictures I have of him playing his banjo is in the comments. See the look on his face, it's priceless :)
Happy Macro Monday!
For Macro Mondays "When I was a child..." theme.
When I was a child I could not drink enough milk. Now I only have cream in my coffee.
Thanks for viewing and happy Macro Monday!
The theme for Macro Monday is "When I was a child".
When I was a child I used to spend a lot of time with my grandparents in the summer. My grandmother loved flowers and shared her interest with me. She had me work with her in the yard every summer. When she got too old to take care of her yard work, it was my gift every Mother's day to spend the time making sure my grandmother had flowers in her yard. My children also got to participate in the ritual of creating a beautiful flower garden for my grandmother.
The other special memory was swimming every summer, thus I have incorporated water into this shot. My definitive summertime memories were all about swimming and being outdoors with my family.
I also made sure to include a reflection in this as I am reflecting back to sweet summer days gone by.
Macro Mondays - "When I was a child …" I loved chocolate and I still do, especially the one with smooth chocolate heart that starts to melt when you break its shell.
we made roads in the dirt for our 'Dinky' toy vehicles.
Here's my 1951 Land Rover, oh so played with!
Setting up this shot brought back so many happy memories, then I tried to get back off my knees!!!

For the Macro Mondays challenge "When I was a child...." (May 9th 2016)
We are asked to complete the sentence. There are so many ways to go! But here is my offering ...
"When I was a child the summer was always hot, and we spent days on the beach making sand castles, beach-combing, rock-pooling and collecting seashells."
I know (looking back) that it did rain sometimes ... but in my memory it is always sunny ;o)
The shell is about 2cm across - eastablishing shot in the first comment field

...I was made to learn Piano, which, at the time I hated because I wanted to learn Guitar, however the music education I received from my piano teacher has proved invaluable as I moved on to other instruments.
For MM theme 'When I was a child'. When I was I child the time could always be told on a dandelion. Something I have passed down to my own children who love to work out the 'time' and the proceed to tell me the 'fluffy balls' are always wrong 😆
I saw how many grazes were cured with sweet words and lovely kisses... They were Magic Moms... still are.

macromonday: the theme for this week is "when i was a child....." .. sylvester, who used to sleep in the sink cause he loved the drip drip of water, has long long since passed on to kitty heaven, so this little wooden cat will have to suffice. it is funny i have a collection of blue and white cats, another of wooden cats and, of course, my dear LBC (little black cat ~grin~ :)

I was a child I enjoyed immerse myself in my favorite heroes (Quando ero bambino mi divertivo a immedesimarmi nei miei eroi preferiti)
When I was a child my favorite escape was listening to music. Journey's Escape album was the first album I bought. Sadly, I no longer have my record collection so I borrowed this from a friend for Macro Monday. HMM
DeadPool Strikes back
This started as a tribute to Star Wars, my favourite film as a kid. Unfortunately, in the bag of Star Wars characters was Deadpool. It was then obvious this was going to turn out bad!………..
mum and dad

Für die heutige Macro Mondays Aufgabe
I learned to play guitar.
I started with classical guitar, later I liked folk and rock more. I stopped about 20 years ago but I still own that guitar. It was fun to handle it again for Macro Mondays shot. HMM

Macro Mondays theme - When I was a child
When I was a child...my grandparents bought me my first camera, a Kodak Brownie 127. I have no idea if it still works, maybe I should get a film and find out. Please excuse the dust, I did dust it but obviously not well enough...it's pretty old so I guess it's entitled to be a bit dusty. HMM
Apologies once again...t'interet playing up!
taken for Macro Mondays' theme for 9 May 2016 - "When I was a Child..."
When I was a child, I loved playing with Rubik's cube and indeed spent huge amount of my childhood time to solve it...

When I was a Child I hated broccoli. Over the years broccoli and I have mended our ways and become good friends. I now invite him to dinner now and then ;-)

When I was a child we used to sit in the wildflower meadows and make daisy chains or pick a Dandelion seed head or '1 o'clock's' as children used to call them. As each child blew the seeds off they'd count...'1 o'clock, 2 o'clock' etc until all the seeds were gone and we knew what time it was...it's how you 'measured' time when I was a tot! Only one problem, we all had a different time because some of the seeds would be slightly stubborn and refuse to leave!

When I was a child I wanted to be an explorer, sailing the oceans on a sailing boat and our beautiful river was the perfect place for let my fantasy sail on my paper boats. Well, I've never had a boat, but I still enjoy playing as you can see :)
Since this is suppposed to be a macro everything in this photo is very very tiny
HMM and thanks for your views!
When I was a Child... a garden was enough to contain the whole world.
Always ready to leave for some endless journey.
Five, ten, sometimes even twenty meters of sheer adventure. And no stone, no hole, no root could stop me. No wild beast, be it an ant or a beetle, could intimidate me.
And now that the world is truly so small?
And I still do. Now the question remains; what do I do with my props? Anyone interested? Just joking! :-) Oh, did I mention that I always liked Snoopy?

Macro Mondays Theme: When I was a child...
... I learnt the piano, flute and sung in a choir. I gave up both the flute and piano :( I never gave up singing although for many years it was just in the car and house, I always have music on and I'll sing along to anything! For the last 6 years I have sung in a choir again and get to do all kinds of fun performances, like sing at Wembley before a Rugby match, flashmobs, & singing in places like the O2 and Birmingham NEC. I now only play the piano so I can help my daughter who is learning... soon she will overtake me in ability! I really wish I had kept up with the piano. I used to love singing whilst my mum played the piano, only trouble is I used to dig my mum in the ribs if she went wrong, what a meanie I was!!
I used a vintage feel for this shot as it was a long time ago!!!
HMM to all and appreciate all your views, comments and favourites. Have a great week.

When I was a Child I belonged to a patrol of Brownies. We made ourselves this "ring" with wicker to hold the scarf of our patrol. During my childhood I used to spend a lot of time with this group.

When I was a child, I loved the smell of my outside world after a heavy spring or summer rain! And I still do!
Macro Mondays Weekly Theme
...I loved to paint. Then I exchanged my paintbrush for a camera...
Quand j'étais gamin, j'adorais peindre. Puis j'ai échangé mon pinceau contre un appareil photo...
Submitted for the Macro Mondays theme of the week : When I was a child.
"When I was a Child..." - my obsession was Elvis. I fell in love with him in the 5th grade when he visited my hometown, Lakeland, FL, and performed at the Polk Theater. I had a "boyfriend" (if you can call him that in the 5th grade) who could sing Jailhouse Rock and move just like Elvis. At one time I had collected over 100 Elvis bubble gum cards which, sadly, my mother tossed when I went to college. This 45 record was a part of my collection that is still in my little case that I had from the late 50's. I tried to include some of my other favorites in the macro.
When I was a child I used to play Subbuteo with my school friends; it is a table top game simulating team sports such as the one featured here, association football.
Playing Subbuteo is a physical simulation of association football, involving dexterity and skill in flicking the playing figures, which stand on weighted bases, across the tabletop pitch towards the ball. Pictured are two original teams West Ham United and Ipswich Town
