i only have this simple SP for this series, another one taken through my car's rear view mirror. not much time and energy for creative processing these days. i'm sure before the 52-week series is over i'll come up with a few that are not as plain, and probably not as boring, as this one. NOTE: i was parked when i took this shot.

Forth Rail Bridge, Scotland
I suspect most of you will be puzzled by this upload and consider it a bit naff, but for me it marks a milestone. I've worked in the automotive and aerospace industries all of my career but these no longer excite me the way big architectural and construction projects do today. I'm fascinated by tall buildings and have visited many of the tallest buildings around the world, including the Twin Towers and Empire State in New York, Willis Tower in Chicago, CN Tower in Toronto and not forgetting the current record holder - the Burj Khalifa in Dubai to name a few.
My other interest is bridges, especially the iconic ones, which brings me nicely to this picture. If I was to say to you name the most recognisable and iconic bridges... how many would be in your list and could you name then?
This is my list, it's by no means complete but I think these are the standout five.
Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney (1932) - not a unique design but as iconic as the Opera House and defines Sydney.
Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco (1937) - I'll argue this is the most iconic and instantly recognisable suspension bridge anywhere in the world and again defines the city.
Ponte Vecchio, Florence (1345) - if you like bridges this just has to be on the list... no arguments!
Tower Bridge, London (1894) - a true landmark and known throughout the world.
Finally...
Forth Rail Bridge, North/South Queensferry (1890) - not the first cantilever bridge in the world but when this was constructed, it was the biggest and today considered a symbol of Scotland.
I can now say I've either walked across, driven across, cycled across, sailed under and even flown low over them... and with this upload travelled across by train. It's my big five... let me know if you think I've missed some and why?
February is definitely rocking the parties!! Take a plunge this year, Go big into Mardi Gras, embrace Valentine's even if it is with Friends and enjoy LEAP YEAR!!

Since yesterday users from Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong and South Korea are restrained from seeing 'moderate' and 'restricted' photos.
Flickr is a user-based site, it's content is made only by its users.
I can't imagine that flickr just hasn't the balls to oppose any local policy of hysteric goverments.
Yahoo seems to be eager to become the world's biggest brother!
I'm a user and I can't accept this.

Upload especially for Michel who's been spending at least one night figuring out how 'connect' was organized ... he got it right in one! :)
I went all the way to Foam in Amsterdam for this:
"Erik Kessels (KesselsKramer, Amsterdam) | Photography in abundance
"Through the digitalisation of photography and the rise of sites such as Flickr and Facebook, everyone now takes photos, and distributes and shares them with the world - the result is countless photos at our disposal. Kessels visualises 'drowning in pictures of the experiences of others', by printing all the images that were posted on Flickr during a 24-hour period and dumping them in the exhibition space. The end result is an overwhelming presentation of a million prints."
And those mounds are fake: there are built mounds underneath them, and the photos are stuck to them, a thin layer that is nowhere near a million photos. This is sad. We don't know how many photos are actually uploaded each day, and this is a totally unreliable visualisation, undermining its entire point.
Oh well.

Hmmm, I eventually dragged myself out of the bed to do this shoot. It's been lingering my mind since this morning and I cannot not shoot it.
I setup the flash to the left of camera and pointed towards the white wall to bounce. Not sure if i'm doing it right. I just imagined that this setup would work. Did it? Should I use a different background color?
Self CnC: I cut the bottom part of the glass and lost some details of the glass. But I'd like to think i was able to freeze the water splash and got the timing right.
