YUHS Annual Dinner - What's Next

I'm still firguring out how I organise my week. Of course, there are the fixtures of Toddler Group and (until the end of March) going to Bicester, but I'm trying to plan more days for housework and gardening. I started off doing some cleaning this morning, and took a break from 10.30 to midday to go out with Mike. The sun was breaking through the mist, so we grabbed the moment and enjoyed a loop walk to Donkeywell. The track is almost always muddy, and was very wet in places, but nothing impassable, and it made a change from our usual routes.

At bedtime, I'm reading What's Next, about the making of The West Wing, the actors, and their volunteering and support for various good causes. It was such an amazing series, screened in the US from September 1999 to May 2006. Mike & I watched it on UK TV starting in 2001, and have recently finished watching all 7 seasons again, on DVD.

During a Survey of 61 respondents at the What's Next Event Cardiff May 2011 we asked if they had a laptop or Macbook

This project is part of STATE OF INTIMACY, The Wild State exhibiton.

What’s Next is a VR installation based on visual imaginaries related to existing concepts of afterlife. The artwork gathers all these visions into one, as a multitude of entities levitate in a generative space together. Through virtual reality, participants can see how a non-real lifeform  might  look  like.

Some of my photos I just can't post right away. Some of these self-portraits I can't even view until months or a year later. They are so full of emotion at the times they were taken that viewing them is too difficult. Sharing them is another level of vulnerability altogether. -----My desire and hope is that somewhere, somehow someone will see them and connect in a way that tells them that they are not alone. There is hope.

This photo was obviously taken before the choice to go white with the hair color.

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

apparently, not Goethe, after all, but William Hutchinson Murray (1913-1996), from his 1951 book entitled The Scottish Himalayan Expedition.
