Lots of people have been heading out to see the blue ice. It makes an awesome backdrop for instagram photos. The Fire Department has waned people to stay off the ice as it is not stable. Hopefully, nothing bad happens in the name of an instagram photo.

I don't understand some people, while the deer seem very friendly (only because they think you have food), they can become aggressive very quickly.

As I drove up, I saw the deer kicking their back legs in the dirt and the head going down. I was sure the deer was going to charge her. Luckily it didn't. I hope she got the picture she wanted.

The other weird thing was she had a mask on, was she trying to prevent catching COVID from the deer or trying to stop the transmission. LOL

Mistakes or "what not to do" according to Aunt Maggie. She wanted Jilli to know despite best intentions things don't always turn out as you vision. personally i like them the way they are.

Glass Fusion oops according to the artist herself,

"The piece Jilli is pointing to heated too fast. Note the smooth rounded edges on the glass. That means that it broke and then fused (melted.) The other piece ("Vitruvian Man") has sharp edges, which means it broke after it had fused, ie: cooled too fast."

People who bring their cameras to weddings completely crack me up.

When they start messing up my photos with their flash or tiring out my subjects by insisting they have to get the SAME photos I have been setting up....that's a lot less funny.

Especially when they just pretend I'm made of....air? I mean, I was clearly trapped here.

It's completely stupid how many average people have $500+ cameras these days. I have no idea what possess these people to spend 5 times what they should on a beast-machine when they really only need something with a pop-up flash. You think using that thing and stealing MY setup/pose ideas is gonna make the bride wish she'd hired YOU instead?

What really kills me is that they think it means anything, and love to try and put me down because my camera is worth less. I do believe *I* was hired for this job, fools. Calm down.

At least I can get something badass out of it, like this. And it feels WAY good to tell the bride that the reason their photos are ruined had nothing to do with me :)

For the record, I don't remember if this lady fell into the category of annoying-wedding-guest. Clearly she's doing half of the stuff I can't stand, but I think she was on the normal side of things.

Here are some before and after comparison photos of the 1918 estate sale house.

Obviously flippers bought this house and it is back on the market with their cheap, ugly renovation. I am furious. I am grateful it is not torn down however, but these people who did this to this historic house should have rotten tomatoes thrown at them.

Let me begin my list of complaints starting on the exterior:

1. The original TWO Craftsman tapered columns on the front porch were replaced by THREE crappy plain square posts with generic angled brackets at the top. The third post just clutters up the porch! It shouldn't be there! That middle pedestal is for a potted plant! Not another column.

2.Craftsman homes have exposed rafter tails. Don,t cover them up with a fascia board.

3. Every single window did have its original wood framed screen. Now every window has no screen so bugs can fly in when opened.

4.They had the original low backyard fence grid pattern. They chose not to replicate the original design, but take a shortcut and use that crappy picket fence pattern that is EVERYWHERE. (I will give them a little bit of praise for the addition of the pergola. Its kind of cute, kind of...)

5.On to the interior, the white paint doesnt really bother me, it did need paint, but the ugly ceiling fan in the dining room, really? They covered up the original hardwood floors with that awful fake wood floor that looks SO CHEAP! They just didnt want to do the work to refinish those amazing floors. Pitty.

6. And now the kitchen. Again, they had the original Craftsman bead board SOLID WOOD cabinets. They chose to rip them out (luckily a local resident let me know he salvaged what he could out of their trash pile, THANK YOU!) They put in that overdone gray granite countertop, probably actually just fake granite going by their cheap trend throughout the rest of the house. This new kitchen does not go with this house! OH MY GOD! Its all wrong.

So that is my vent. Got it all out now. I REALLY hope the people who did this awful remodel job to this once grand house sees my rant and hopefully becomes educated about historic styles...

Yuck, right? Yeah, yeah. This MOC is from mid to late '04, and was the first 'big' MOC from after the dark age.

I was so proud of myself when I built it. I believe it was shortly after this that I found Brickshelf and Lugnet. That's why there are no pics of it anywhere.

It was kind of fun, though. There were three loading ramps and working landing gear.

Srsly...this is THE WORST greenscreen I have ever seen.

Shot on beta. Dubbed to DV. Delivered to me.

It's a horrific setup. A reflective fabric back panel that has tiny glass beads. A green ring light reflects light off the beads and into the lens creating the green screen.

You can see why this is crap. The ring light leaves a halo of uncoloured beads around the subject AND look under his collar? The shadows light up green! The highlights on his forehead..GREEN!

Kids at home..NEVER EVER DO GREENSCREEN LIKE THIS.

Or I will slap you.

Hard.

Arghhhhh.... I forgot to place the center column into the film reel while loading into the Dev tank, resulting in some pretty terrible light leak damage to the whole roll. The lessons that stick are the ones learned the hard way.

buddy had to hold REAL still for me to take this.

so .. this was at 21c friday night.

the worst part? i had no idea what all was involved with the pajama party and therefore only packed along the D50 and 18-200. if i would have known the show i was able to see i would have brought the dan dry lens. even worse though, because i had been 'working' the event .. i had prime seats to watch the show from the baloney overhead...

sigh ..

however i think the fire guy was moving too fast for most of the show to even make good use of the DD lens.

i still walked out with a bunch of interesting shots .. both from the performance and also the details beforehand. for things like this though, i tend to take a few shots, put the camera down, and actually try to enjoy it for once.

This is a screenshot of the Portland Press Herald's response to a photographer who's photo they used without permission simply because (1) they couldn't find a way to contact her, even via Flickr, (2) said it was in public interest to use her photo, (3) it was on a publicly viewable so it was fair use. They have deleted their official response, but I've taken a screenshot of it for proof.

What I altered:

- art placement

- Wall colour

- dining chairs colour

- Added another pouf, but bigger! Navy/teal colour

- valance (something just needed to add weight to the window, but a valance might not be the answer)

- plants in pots picking up on the navy/teal colour

- Removed magazines from side table

- Stained bookcase darker brown to tie in with side table, dining table and rug

As this is only my second Blythe custom, I was very careless and foolishly trimmed that pin (a), which stabilizes the eye mech when changing eyes. I made the mistake of referencing a TBL mold, even though I've read a good bit on different types of face molds!! At first, I thought I would have to rebuild the pin, but on such a tiny spot, it just wouldn't be sound. Instead, I snipped thin strips from an empty, gift card to create a laminate (b) to build on the eye mech itself. Then, I reinforced the whole extension with a larger piece. I've been clicking away for some time, even tried to pry off the laminate, but the whole fix has surprisingly held fast and strong!

oh boy....found a cd full of pictures that I took in the early 2000, and yes that's also the same day that I found out about the lens flare filter in photoshop and thought it's the most awesome thing on earth. I can't believe I actually liked that.

Obviously, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

What not to do in state parks. This group walked into a fairly remote but popular natural area, parked their lawn chairs in Prairie Creek just 20 feet front the drop off at Hidden Falls. Not what you want to see after hiking back in for some pictures. The banks are roped off and signs indicate to respect and stick to the trails and as it's a sensitive area.

Nerstrand-Big Woods State Park is a 2,882-acre (11.66 km2) state park of Minnesota, USA, northeast of Faribault near the small town of Nerstrand. The park derives its name from the Big Woods, a large, contiguous forested area covering much of central Minnesota prior to the arrival of European settlers. (Wikipedia)

I thought these people weren't very smart, especially the lady who let her two little toddlers hang over the side, well within the bear's reach. (And the folks with dogs, why would you bring your dog to somewhere that you are very likely to run into a bear?) At this point the bear clearly wanted to get past this bridge and to the other side, where there were more fish, but the people in the way didn't seem to notice. Eventually he walked away. The whole time the bear was around, I kept thinking that the crowd was pushing it, getting way too close. There was one guy who was particularly bad. Everybdy was at the top of the bank, and there was a little path leading to where the bear was below. This young guy, pushed past everybody, and headed down the path, with his long shoelace untied, talking big to his two friends following, he knew everything about the bear. I said to him as he passed, dude, your shoelace is untied. He got a sour expression and ignored me. I thought he was both rude and stupid. Rude, because he blocked everybody else's shots, who were giving the bear a respectful distance. And stupid, well that just seems self explanatory. The thing that really got me about this guy was he had a very nice telephoto lense on his camera, longer than the one I was using. I don't know how he could have even gotten any shots of the bear as close as he was to it with that lense. I didn't get it.
