A Corsac fox looking for lunch!

for Smile on Saturday - Enigma

a gorgeous wildplant with an amazing bulbuous and hairy flower reminding me of cactus flowers. No matter how hard I searched on websites about Icelandic flora I could not find it. Maybe someone who is an expert should get about doing a really great and informative online catalogue of Iceland's plants and flowers for those that exist are all crap.

Captured for Crazy Tuesday theme: Guess what it is.

And for Our Daily Challenge: Red

I spotted that thing in the tree when I was processing the image. Do you have any idea what it might be?

For Smile on Saturday's #enigma theme

Spoiler alert: a clue follows if anyone would like one

there's actually two of these objects in the shot (though one is very blurred). the one that is more visible normally only comes out on special occasions (unless you have expensive tastes!)

I don't know. Does this make any sense at all? I guess not ;) You might wonder what you're looking at. HAL turned into a flower power hippie? I really wasn't sure what to do for the theme, tried various things, didn't like any – you know the story.

Then I stumbled upon my Mom's old collapsible linen tester / thread counter. And of all possible and (un)likely things I put a withered aster blossom behind it. Why, when a thread would have been the obvious choice? I really don't know. I considered doing a two image focus stacking, one image with focus on the tiny tubular flowers at the centre of the blossom, and one with the thread counter in focus. But then I thought "One shot has to do." Plus I kind of like the strange-looking thread counter and petal bokeh. I hope you like it, too, although I could understand if you didn't ;)

I didn't do much processing here, just the necessary RAW development in DXO, and then added a slightly matte look in Analog Efex.

HMM, Everyone!

I am afraid to say to much as I'll probably give it away. But this was fun for me to try to figure out how to shoot.

What is it? Spotted along a Missouri highway, but defies definition or explanation....at least to me.

Crazy Tuesday theme: Guess What It Is...

absolutely no idea about what it can be, but I love the colours and its "oddity" ... :-)

something nice to wish you all a very nice week end!

What exactly is this??????

...Something

Guys, obviously I had no idea whatsoever for this theme. A dancing tree? Maybe. Maybe just very thin slices of paper twisted around... This same "thing" also served for a "Bad Hair Day" version (an outtake; I'm not sure if I will upload it).

Please don't be too hard on me ;-). HMM everybody!

Smile on Saturday

enigma!!!

The Fungiidae are a family of Cnidaria, often known as mushroom corals. The family contains thirteen extant genera. They range from solitary corals to colonial species. Wikipedia

I'll give you the answer after the end of the theme.

the macromonday theme for today, 2/25, is “What is that?”. methinks there will be 6 in this series, once all are posted.

and i think this one will be the choice for posting!!

macromondays "what is it?" possibility whatizit?

I would rather live in a world where my life is surrounded by mystery than live in a world so small that my mind could comprehend it.

~ Harry Emerson Fosdick

Runner up....any guess?

Had this for many years but what is it? There are thousands of little ball bearings, sandwiched between the two clear and solid plastic sides. Shaking it produces different patterns but.......what is it? It is only about 5cm square.

Clues? Chemistry, geology, education but anything more will reveal too much.

Answer tonight sometime!

So, what is it? Cell phone capture and processed with Snapseed. Pasadena, California (home of JPL).

#MacroMondays #WhatIsIt?

HMM.... the theme for 7/13 is spiral

more and more i am liking what the iphone camera can catch :)

ANSH scavenger12. "What is it?"

This could/should be a bit easier than #18!

Having said that, I am really looking forward to your interpretation of what this is!

Take a look and then take your best shot at what this is!

For some people this will be as easy as pie, others might have to phone a friend, or ask the family..... Good luck!

Your correct, wild, imaginative, out of the box and out of this world guesses are being looked forward to. 😁

Post as many guesses as you like!

As usual the answer will be posted in a few days' time. Enjoy!

Macro Mondays theme Triangle.

[The overall width is less than 5cm/2inches before slightly cropping down for reasons of aesthetics; the base of each triangle is 0.5cm.] HMM!

From the front it looks normal. But from the back...looks like something from Mad Max, maybe? LOL

macro mondays: rings in a rainbow...🌈 these are condition rings to put around Miniatures for tabletop games - each only about 1.5 inches in diameter.

So, work was a little too busy today to have posted earlier , but here is my option for the MM theme. It’s a mixture of danger and reflection and one other of the MM themes which I cannot remember for the mo.

What is it was the other option!!

Thanks for stopping HMM all

This should be another easy one!

The answer will be posted in a few days' time after you have posted your wild and out of the box guesses. 😁

Another easy one!

This is a 1:1.1 macro of something for you to look at and take a guess as to what it is....

An easy one after a somewhat difficult #37.

At first glance this may look difficult, but I am sure that someone will realize what it is!

Take a look and then take your best shot at what this is!

I am really looking forward to your guesses!

Refer to my long answer below.

it's a mystery to me.

‘There is such a thing

as unconditional expression

that does not come from self or other.

It manifests out of nowhere

like mushrooms in a meadow,

like hailstones, like thundershowers.’ ~Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche from The Art of Calligraphy

this is part of the doorhandle on my storm door, so most of you guessed correctly - also HTT!

When I went out on the 11th I happened to notice this on the garden wall on the opposite side of the road and went to investigate. The light was perfect.

But, can anyone tell me what it is?

The answer: It's the bottom of a bottle that was on the wall, the colour was the trees and foliage around it.
