Arts is supposed to be unique.
Every print made by Ansel Adams is unique. There is only one piece of painting "Starry Night" created by Van Gogh.
However in digital age, digital capture has made possible the exact duplication of the same piece of work (if digital photography can be considered as art also).
I think uniqueness of art lies on something else in the digital era i.e. other than the physical qualities in the work.
These are thoughts coming to my mind when I took a picture of this replica of totem outside the gift shop in Steveston.
These replica are not usually considered as artwork as they are only simulated copy of the original works.

This modern window was just recently created in the Cologne Cathedral, replacing very basic and rather unsightly windows put in after bombing damage during World War II.
The cathedral was started in 1248 AD but not finished until 1888 AD (not because it was so complicated and challenging-that, too, with towers 155 m/ 500ft high!-but mostly for the lack of money to complete it).
www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,2754061,00.html describes the controversy around it.
"Do you call this art?" Somebody, seeing me photographing, asked me in Swedish.
"Well, don't you?" I replied, switching to French, after having heard his accent.
"Bonjour, ah, vous parlez le Français. Et alors c'est quoi ça?"
Obviously the foreigner did not appreciate the transparent box filled with bees, hanging by almost invisible threads, placed at the Market Square.
I kept on shooting, mainly enjoying the human expressions on the other side of the glass.
What is Art, really?

Merci Le Poulailler pour ton aide A retrouver le nom de l'artiste.
It seems to me that Felix Gonzalez-Torres liked people to touch his art work and interact with it.

Take three yellow 'post it' sticky edged memo sheets and stick them on a card backing. Write and colour in 'ART' on each in felt tip pens. Scan it into the computer and then upload. I think this is a work of 'art', others may disagree. It even has influences, the work of Juan Miro, not that he ever used a post-it note and Duchamp's Readymades!

A blank canvas can be considered art, but is it really? The absence of any subject, form, or color is taking the idea of minimalism to the extreme. And a bit too far if you ask me! Minimalism as a technique in photography can refine a photograph and poignantly illuminate the subject and other aspects of the image. What do you think? :)
What is art?
Is graffitti art?
Can art be done by vandalizing other people's property?
Is a photograph capturing an arts piece also considered as art?
Silly questions, no answers or millions of answers.
