The weather has been summer like for about 2 weeks. Still, Autumn colors does it's thing in the Tennessee woodlands. That leads Me to think that regardless of cooler temperatures, Autumn will do it's thing. Now whatI liked about this shot was the warm reddish brown color. I knew I had to capture that. The secene is not bad to begin with, but I knew that warmish red color would add or hopefully add some boost to the scene!

Moiré effect is a visual perception that occurs when viewing a set of lines or dots that is superimposed on another set of lines or dots, where the sets differ in relative size, angle, or spacing. The moiré effect can be seen when looking through ordinary window screens at another screen or background. It can also be generated by a photographic or electronic reproduction, either deliberately or accidentally. (whatis.techtarget.com/definition/moire-effect )

...more accurate would probably be that I am lost about love..lost when it comes to love...lost about loving..lost about being loved....
I realize the best part of love is the thinnest lace
And it don't count for much but I'm not letting go
I believe there's still much to believe in
So lift your eyes if you feel you can
Reach for a star and I'll show you a plan
I figured it out
What I needed was someone to show me

Side-paddle-wheel Lakeboat – Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, Vermont USA • Grandest of all is the Ticonderoga, the only surviving vertical beam sidewheel steamship in the U.S., 220 ft long, weighing 892 tons.
Electra Havemeyer Webb, creator of the Shelburne Museum] made the Ticonderoga her own Fitzcarraldo. She bought the ship, then had it dragged two miles from Lake Champlain to her Museum, where it now rests in a miniature valley that she'd ordered dug for it. Why put a ship in a hole? "When you see a ship," the tourguide told us, "you don't see it WAY UP THERE."
Electra had a model of the landlocked ship in her home, set in a model hole, and would add or remove spoonfuls of dirt until she was satisfied that its position was just right. She'd then order her workmen to remove or add dirt to match. The workmen pointed out that each of Electra's spoonfuls equaled five dumptrucks of dirt, but she did not care. The superrich can make anything happen. She paid the cash, and lesser beings moved the dirt -- and an 892 ton ship. – from the roadsideamerica.com Field Review.
• The steamboat Ticonderoga is America’s last remaining side-paddle-wheel passenger steamer with a vertical beam engine of the type that provided freight and passenger service on America’s lakes and rivers from the early 19th to the mid-20th centuries. Commissioned by the Champlain Transportation Company, the Ticonderoga was built in 1906 at the Shelburne Shipyard in Shelburne, Vermont on Lake Champlain.
The Ti measures 220 feet in length and 59 feet in beam, with a displacement of 892 tons. Her steam-powered engine, handmade by the Fletcher Engine Company of Hoboken, New Jersey, was powered by two coal-fired boilers and could achieve a maximum speed of seventeen miles per hour. – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
☞ On January 28, 1964, the National Park Service designated this structure a National Historic Landmark (#66000797).
National Historic Landmarks are nationally significant historic places designated by the Secretary of the Interior because they possess exceptional value or quality in illustrating or interpreting the heritage of the United States. Today, fewer than 2,500 historic places bear this national distinction. – [And one of only 17 in Vermont.] – Working with citizens throughout the nation, the National Historic Landmarks Program draws upon the expertise of National Park Service staff who work to nominate new landmarks and provide assistance to existing landmarks.
National Historic Landmarks are exceptional places. They form a common bond between all Americans. While there are many historic places across the nation, only a small number have meaning to all Americans -- these we call our National Historic Landmarks. – from the National Park Service.
☞ On October 15, 1966, this structure was also added to the National Register of Historic Places (#66000797).

During the month of September Mattmoo is taking part in Tacheback with some work colleagues.
They will be growing moustaches to raise vital funds for Everyman
- the UK's leading Male Cancer Campaign. Since 2003 Tacheback have collected £700,000 for the charity and now my husband is taking part.
If you would like to sponsor him please visit the Tacheback webpage for The AES Moustachios!
For me it will just be strange to have a husband with a tache!! Good luck honey – hope it doesn’t drive you mad.
I'll also keep you updated with the no doubt hilarious results!!
In 1998 my wife and I made a round-the-world holiday. I didn't want to do the usual stops through southern Europe, so we concentrated mostly on Northern and Eastern Europe.
My contact and friend, Rasa, in Lithuania had sent me a post card of the Hill of Crosses a few years prior to this trip and I knew at that moment I would have to make the trek there.
When we got there it was very cold and rianing. The crosses were clanking in the wind and there was definately a strong spiritual presence in this holy place. I took around 70 snaps, of which this is one of them.
I cannot begin to describe how wonderful a place this is. There were milllions of crosses from 2 cm high to two stories high. The craftsmanship in the carved crosses blew my away... one must make the trip there to even begin to get a feel of whatI am talking about. My photos and the weather that day do not do the place and experience justice.

After two visits - two years apart almost to the day - and almost half an hour of waiting on the second visit, I managed to get some photos of the Castlerigg stone circle in Cumbria without people climbing all over the stones. This is a great place for views, and this was the only day on our recent holiday to the Lake District that we saw the sun shine in a week. Never mind, the place still looks nice in all weather.
So, here are my first two Misaki dolls! As I was having a closer look at them and deboxing them, I had the strong feeling that they were different from whatI expected and it took me a while to figure out- I keep comparing them to Yuri as she has the same body and also her hair has this specific silky feeling that these have- and therefore, I was somehow feeling a lack of detailed face paint.
This is unfair obviously as Yuri is a part of an entirely different line, but I still have the feeling that I have to get used to them for a while. This does not mean that I don't like them! We just have to get to know each other a little more :)
Also, Iam not really fond of the outfits. It's not the general style, even if many other collectors seemed to dislike it (I think Pullips gave me an eternal understanding for interesting outfits, and I am generally drawn towards "different" things, anyway).
BUT, these outfits simply look a little out of scale to me. Looks how large the diamond pattern on Amelie's blouse is, ot those "arm warmers"!
It’s a vodka kind of night! Cheers to the long weekend & Happy 4th of July! 🍸🍹🎆🎇

Shelburne, Vermont USA • Shelburne Farms is one of the finest examples in the nation of a late 19th - 20th Century model farm and country estate. Created for Dr. William Seward and Lila Vanderbilt Webb, the estate is noted for its exemplary agricultural, architectural, and landscape design achievements. – National Historic Landmark plaque.
• A farm and country estate constructed from c.1886 to 1915, Shelburne Farms consists of approximately 1,300 acres of designed and agricultural landscape and significant wood-framed and masonry buildings representative of a combination of Shingle and Queen Anne styles. Four major buildings and 78 secondary buildings, structures, and sites are situated in functional groupings between broad expanses of cleared agricultural fields with rolling hills and isolated softwood plantations, hardwood and softwood forests, gardens, and rocky lakeshore. Eleven and a half miles of curvilinear interior roads and eight miles of walking trails traverse the varied farm and estate landscape, connect the resources, and provide views and vistas of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the east. Shelburne Farms lies at elevations between approximately 95 feet and 392 feet a.m.s.l. [above mean sea level]. Lone Tree Hill, the highest point on the property, rises from the center of the property and features panoramic views over the fields and forests to the lake and mountain ranges – From the Landmark Nomination form.
• Shelburne Farms is a nonprofit environmental education center and National Historic Landmark on the shores of Lake Champlain in Shelburne, Vermont. It is also one of the principal concert sites for the Vermont Mozart Festival.
Shelburne Farms was created in 1886 by Dr. William Seward Webb and Eliza Vanderbilt Webb as a model agricultural estate. They commissioned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted [and forester Gifford Pinchot,] to guide the layout of 3,800 acres (15 km2) of farm, field and forest, and New York architect Robert Henderson Robertson, to design the buildings. Shelburne Farms was incorporated as a nonprofit educational facility in 1972. Nearly 400 acres (1.6 km2) of sustainably managed woodlands received Green Certification from the Forest Stewardship Council in 1998.
The Shelburne Farms grass-based dairy supports a herd of 125 purebred, registered Brown Swiss cows. Their milk is made into an award-winning farmhouse cheddar cheese. The farm serves as an educational resource by practicing rural land use that is environmentally, economically and culturally sustainable. Visitors may enjoy the walking trails, children’s farmyard, inn, restaurant, property tours and special events. – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Strafford, Vermont USA • The lifetime of Senator Justin Smith Morrill nearly spanned the 19th century, and many of the qualities that distinguish that American century were represented in the accomplishments of this self-educated native of Strafford, Vermont.
The son of a blacksmith, Morrill at the age of 15 had to leave school to work as a merchant’s clerk. He proved so successful that at the age of 38 he retired to devote his life to study and to the leisurely pursuits of a country gentleman.
The Morrill Homestead is an outstanding example of a Gothic Revival cottage. Designed and built by Justin Morrill before embarking upon his political career, he borrowed and adapted forms and details of the Gothic Revival to suit his own needs and vision.
Morrill was a serious student of landscape gardening as well. His designs are in the best traditions of the romantic landscape movement, formal yet Picturesque.
Senator Justin Smith Morrill's prominence, however, is not based on architecture and landscaping, but on his legislative accomplishments.
Inspired in large part by his own lack of a formal education, Morrill was the chief sponsor of the Land Grant Act, the most important educational legislation in the 19th century. The goal was to create a land grant college in each state to provide a liberal and practical education for farmers, mechanics, artisans and laborers.
The significance of the Land Grant Act was that it expanded higher education to include practical training in science, agriculture, and engineering, along with the classical studies traditionally offered only to clergymen, teachers, physicians and lawyers. – From the website of the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation.
Morrill was responsible for the Morrill Acts (1862, 1890), which provided for land grant colleges. He designed and constructed this Gothic Revival house in 1848-51, and retained ownership while in the Congress as a Representative (1855-67) and Senator (1867-98), and until his death in 1898. – From the NPS Statement of Significance.

[11] UNDERWATER HISTORIC PRESERVES: Not all history happens on land. Lake Champlain, one of the nation’s most historic waterways, contains countless shipwrecks dating back to the 1700’s. These wrecks include military, commercial and private vessels—each providing a direct connection to the past. Today the state maintains five underwater historic sites for scuba divers—the Horse Ferry, the Phoenix, the Coal Barge, the General Butler and the Diamond Island Stone Boat. Each preserve is marked by yellow buoys with guidelines providing safe and easy access to the wrecks.
[12] COVERED BRIDGES: More than any other state, Vermont is known for its covered bridges. A total of 106 bridges remain, the roofs and walls continuing to protect the wooden trusses from rot and decay.

Other than a slight color correct and clarify...nothing else was done to this...simply my reflection in the window of a truck during the rain we had today. The opportunity was there...and I took it.

A tribute to my friend Paul who recently passed away fighting a long battle with scleroderma.
I have known him since 1980 and worked with him for 20 years before he retired and began his fight with this disease. He had the best zest for life!

La nouvelle présentation envisagée va détruire Flickr sous sa forme actuelle, pour en faire un simple "réseau social" à la va-vite, déshumanisé et éphémère qui ne correspondra plus en rien à un site dédié aux amoureux de la photo.

I always feel happy when one of my contacts shares something personal other than images of whatever outside of their everyday life... After 3 years on flickr, i'd like to share a little pic of my family during our vacation back in July. I couldn't get my other son in this pic... Oh well :) I hope my wife will not kill me for this!
I’m thankful for my beautiful new home. Almost 3 years ago, in January, my husband passed away after a long battle with cancer. Needless to say, it’s been a difficult 3 years. I was left with a big house in the country, on several acres, and it was way too much for me. I have chronic fatigue syndrome, so it was a struggle just to keep up with the maintenance and daily chores. I made the decision to move into a minimal maintenance community and contruction began on my new home a year ago this month. This past year has been a struggle as I kept up with the bulding decisions plus worked on downsizing and packing 36 years of stuff in addition to getting my country home ready to put on the market.
But I made it! My country home sold in one day, and I moved into my new home this past May. I don’t have to worry about yard work, as the mowing and snow removal are taken care of, and I couldn’t have better neighbors. My new house is easy to take care of, and is just perfect for me. I am so blessed to be able to have this home and be in a place where I can start to move forward.
ODC What I’m thankful for

"A woman hates to stand in line in the grocery store because she's afraid that everyone is watching her. She knows that it's not really true, but she can't shake the feeling. While she is shopping, she is conscious of the fact that people might be staring at her from the big mirrors on the inside front of the ceiling. Now, she has to talk to the person who's checking out her groceries. She tries to smile, but her voice comes out weakly. She's sure she's making a fool of herself. Her self-consciousness and anxiety rise to the roof... read more

I love these little animals, so clumsy on the ground and so graceful in the water.
There is a source of confusion between French and English
The French word "pingouin" = auk while the English "penguin" = manchot in French

I have no idea how this light pattern got into my camera, other than I know I was in the car at night. It may me think--is a "true" abstract something that you could hope to produce on purpose, or reproduce? Is an abstract a unique moment in time and space captured in part by chance? It seems almost all of my "abstracts" started off as intentional shots and were degraded/upgraded to the "abstract" status after examination...
I'm sorry for not posting anything earlier (my phone was dead ). You guys deserve to have something so here is how I made the team.
#1. The Thing
He is made from LEGO pieces and air-dry clay, which is whatI use to sculpt all of my minifigs. It took me 3 days to make it and i'm very pleased of how he turned out.
#2. Human Torch
He is a minifig that I painted COMPLETELY orange and then made the extra details along with giving him fire pieces.
#3. Mr. Fantastic
The hardest thing to do with this minifig was painting his facial features. But, other than that, this minifig was pretty easy to make.
#4. Invisible Women
She has an old Wonder Women face that I wanted to discard for something else, but I decided to make a Invisible Women minifig with it by giving here a slender torso, same pieces as Mr. Fantastic, and here Transparent Discs.
So, those were my Fantastic Four minifigs. If you are wondering, yes, this is how I will make every LEGO Team description from now on. I consider this on of my crappiest minifigs ( Im mainly talking about Mr. Fantastic ). I think I did a pretty good job at these minifigs. Please leave a comment, please get me up to 100 views, and fave this photo.
