*as Miss P calls it...

::

Thrifted woolly loopy jacket sweater. (Tag removed by previous owner -- it could be SmellMart and I'd still love it!)

Ivory, red, and green floral silk scarf likely from an estate sale.

Thrifted green silk pullover -- Mossimo, I think...

Black bamboo camisole underneath by Jockey.

I love my red skirt. It's leather, and thrifted. I saw it one week while I was with Miss P and didn't have time to try it on -- but I decided it might not fit anyway. Several days later I thought I ought to have bought it for the material alone (it was $2.50) so I went back to the thrift store by myself and looked for it on the rack for about 30 minutes hoping it might still be there. Nope. Two weeks later, I was in the thrift store again when something red on the skirt rack caught my eye: there was the leather skirt! I bought it with the intention of making it into a tote bag -- but it ended up fitting. WHEN is a red leather skirt still in a thrift store two weeks later?? (I'm not complaining... ; )

Black leather boots by J. Crew, a gift from Mom a decade ago. I've never been able to zip these all the way up, despite them being "extended calf." I guess J. Crew designers assume their customers all have legs like field hockey sticks.

the temperature shot up to 20 degrees today after being down around freezing the last few nights.

-long-sleeved t-shirt from target

-gray surplice lace sweater/vest thing, thrifted at st. vinnie's around the corner from my house

-pleated pinstripe skirt, thrifted in chicago last 4th of july weekend

-black target leggings

-argyle socks, again given to me by my mom

-demonia zipper mary janes which are about to fall apart

-timmie pendant from m. patrizio

-teal long sleeved t-shirt from target

-black crocheted vest (made by me)

-block printed skirt, refashioned from vintage dress

-olive green LEG things.

-another pair of socks from my mom.

-same old boots. the laces actually match something for a change.

The best thing about a cold front is I get to wear cute tights!

It's supposed to warm up again next week so I'm enjoying fall clothes while I can.

Head is cut off by accident, not for vanity. Also I didn't mean to be showing my belly, whoops.

-blue singlet block printed with my printmaking students' collaborative rendition of Chuck Close's portrait of Philip Glass. One time last year I wore this shirt to the gym and my trainer asked me if it was a self portrait (I'm guessing because of the crazy hairdo)

-leather belt that used to be my dad's in the 1970s. It had holes; I added the silver grommets. I haven't worn this for a while since I don't wear trousers anymore; it's pulled a notch (about 3cm) tighter but is still worn loose.

-thrifted denim skirt which I probably wear 4 out of every 7 days lately

-notes to self written on arm re: massage and physiotherapy appointments

-wooden bracelet with tiny laminated pictures of Catholic saints, bought at a grocery store in Mexicantown.

-old baseball socks given to me by Lynne over the weekend, with no stretch left in them because they're from back in the 80s when she played ball with the Milverton Suns. Three time provincial championship winning socks!

-new Adidas sneakers that I hope make me look just like Freddie Mercury at Live Aid (don't burst my bubble). Peter and Claire and I went out to the mall last week to get new sneakers for all of us and we all ended up with the classic 3-stripe Adidas. So now we will look like either total nerds or slaves to a brand when we walk around together.

Wearing:

-thrifted skintight white t-shirt that I can't wear out on its own because it's way too slutty

-green t-shirt printed by Katherine McGuire, also too slutty to wear on its own due to a complete lack of opacity

-no bra, speaking of sluttiness

-skirt I made by chopping off a thrifted dress and sticking elastic in at the top and lace on at the bottom

-favourite semi-opaque knee socks, with a run in them already

I shortened the skirt last night by removing one ruffled tier; I think it's time to do this to all of my skirts, because if they don't hit above the knee then I look short. A bit selfconscious now that the shorter length might be too casual for teaching, but what the heck. Some of my colleagues teach in jeans.

wearing:

-blue shirt with pintuck bib, thrifted in December as part of my project to build a decent teaching wardrobe. It's got a nice sleeve detail that I'm going to copy, where three darts come up from the hem to create the poof.

-thrifted corduroy tiered skirt, newly shortened! I'm trying to decide if patch pockets would look silly. Because I could make a few with the leftover fabric.

-I said I would never wear pantyhose again but I need to get some serger thread before I can chop off these thick gray argyle tights into stockings. Bought at Zellers in a minor first-paycheque tights spree.

-(not visible) pink long johns. It's cold out there, y'all. By the time I left work the temperature had gone up to minus 9 and my legs felt almost too warm.

-best ever red mary jane flats. Bought last summer at Winners. I wear these to work in almost every day no matter what I'm wearing because I have 3 pairs of shoes to change into at work, these, a too-high-heels black pair, and an ugly brown pair.

(torn between two shot's on today's take: mine vs. jdm's)

19:58 a quick "What I'm Wearing" shoot on the deck, before heading out...

I love the soft light the setting sun cast in this shot...

what we have here:

* sunglasses for the drive & to hold the hair in place (Frolik, now missing a rhinestone)

* thin pink v-neck with a cute tie at the waist (Torrid clearance)

* just jeans (wearing out hand-me-downs)

* Birki thongs
