Wastwater is a lake located in Wasdale, a valley in the western part of the Lake District National Park, England. The lake is almost 3 miles in length and the deepest lake in England @ 258 feet and possible my new favourite lake.
So many incredible cabins I look at.....government land and these cabins have been passed down through many generations of families.
The breathtaking view of the blue quiet sea expanding beyond the eyes can reach, where one can feel total calmness and peace!

“I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house."
--Nathaniel Hawthorne
When we visited the lavender and sunflower fields in Valensole we stopped for a lunch which I'd prepared earlier at home before we left. We unpacked a couple of foldaway chairs and table from the back of the car and sat down and enjoyed the grub and the view. It might look like we were bang in the middle of a lavender field but we were in fact on a little track which appeared to be unused and was between two lavender fields. You can see a car in the distance to the right and they were doing exactly the same as us.
Enjoy the week ahead! :-)
What A Day - Greg Laswell
I apologize for this one, I accidently deleted it yesterday while working on a project and I like it a lot so... well, I just had to repost it.
It was lunchtime and they were having a little lunch and chatting away. I couldn't imagine a better spot to do either of those things. The trees on either side afforded them the shade they needed from the very warm sun. The view is looking south over the Provençal countryside.
Split Rock Lighthouse, on the North Shore of Minnesota overlooking might Lake Superior, has quite a view and is also lovely to behold. When it was built in 1910 there were no roads to it and so all of the construction materials, as well as supplies for the keeper, had to be brought in via the lake and then lifted up the 160' cliff by a crane. It was built in response to the famous Mataafa Storm of 1905 during which 29 ships were lost or damaged on Superior. It moved to an inactive status in 1961. However each year on November 10th Split Rock emits a light in memory of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald which sunk on that date in 1975, and in honor of which Gorden Lightfoot wrote his haunting, powerful ballad (here's a link: www.google.com/search?sca_esv=3e9c5b5807ad45a8&sca_up...). It is an amazing spot to visit with wonderful hikes and tours of the lighthouse. Actually would highly recommend spending a week and taking in the entire north shore up to the border with Canada. There are a total of 8 state parks, 17 waterfalls and rivers and 18 scenic overlooks to enjoy.
If you are going to meet someone, this overlook at Waterton Lake is not a shabby place to do it......
BTW, just got a txt msg from these guys to say Hi!
Lots pf people out on the observation deck to watch the waterfalls.

On my own
For some strange reason, I was here all alone to watch the sun rise at Hohenzollern Castle. While that happened outside the frame, to the right, the clouds behind the castle did colour nicely. With an exposure time of five minutes – thanks to 13 stops of neutral-density filters, plus a 2-stop soft grad filter to further tame the sky – I think I managed to capture quite a bit of the colours.
One more nice day before rain and snow, we decided to do another trail we haven't tried before. The reviews said the trail wasn't bad but the last part of the trail is steep. It was a tough trail very muddy and a lot of the trail is up hill, the final part of the trail is really tough, there are ropes to hold onto as you climb but the hard work paid off. What a view, Going down the trail was much easier but exhausting.

Here Dolores + I, are on Easter holiday, visiting my mom.
I miss her dearly, since 1996 ! I wish Dolores had had, a chance to meet her Grandmom !
The other day while doing some birdwatching, I heard one of our Mockingbirds doing what they do best - belting out a chorus of songs. It took me a minute to finally spot it, perched wa-a-ay up top on the highest branches of our holly bush.
From way up there, he probably has the best seat in the house, or backyard. No doubt he can pretty much see everything, all the feeders, the Goodie Bowls, and probably even what's going on in the neighbor's yards, too!
La Tourne is a high mountain pass in the Jura Mountains in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
Elevation: 3,839′
Range: Jura Mountains
A bus ride up from Neuchatel on a Sunday and no ride back for three hours.. luckily the most wonderful hike through forests - down to the small village.. and as the sun was beginning to set the mist starting flowing over the village.. I captured this.. I was so lucky!!
What a beautiful place this is with fantastic views for miles around. Built around 240 years ago in the 1780s it stands today on Cnoc Fyrish overlooking the Cromarty Firth and the Black Isle with The Moray Firth and Inverness beyond.
Takes about two hours to walk to the top on a well defined path but allow plenty of time for taking photographs and if the weather is nice take a picnic. If you want more there are another couple of follies nearby for an extended walk including Little Fyrish.
Nearby is Nigg and in Cromarty Firth you can just see some of the recently disused oil platforms just waiting.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, with many journey's far and near !!!

This is an old photo scanned from a trip we had in 2003! We are both getting the bug to go again and would happily venture back to this part of the world.
