SUNSET STATION LIGHTNING
What a great show last night! All the strikes were beyond the mountains. All we got in the city was the rushing wind and a slight sprinkle. I started shooting at 10pm for about 1.5 hours and it was still going strong when I left.

A major highlight of my recent trip to Cuba was attending a small performance by the Buena Vista Social Club. I found out about an hour before that they were in town and performing (apparently a rare event) and we dropped everything and rushed over!
They were amazing!! The venue was small (about 40 or 50 people in the audience and the Mojitos were flowing. But the best part was the energy. Like I said, they were Amazing!!!
We get a few nights a year like this when the color is just amazing, everything seems to work, and you get multiple keepers as the light changes. Above is my last image of one of those great Winter nights...

8th July 2017:
Rufus: "Cor what a bad night we all had. Well, I think it was Mum and I rather than Dad too.
Before Mum came to bed Little Izzy asked to go out, which she always does, as she likes watching the moths. Mum let her out, but when she went to get her back in, our Little Izzy had gone ...
Mum called, but Little Izzy didn't come back, so she woke Dad and they both called her and I sniffed everywhere, but there was no sign of My Little Izzy. :0(
We went back in and left the roller blind up a bit and the patio door open so that if she came home, she'd be able to get in.
I was very worried and so was Mum who didn't sleep, Dad did. Then at silly o'clock this morning Mum got up and went into the main room.
I heard her open the patio door, so raced in to see what was happening and there was My Little Izzy, all tangled around the garden table. When she came inside, I gave a a very good sniff from her head to the tip of her taiil, to check she was OK, but she told me to stop by bopping me on the nose!
We all went back to bed, but we didn't get back to sleep and in the end Mum got up again and made a cup of tea. Found a new lead for Izzy and somewhere better to attach it.
I'm just so glad that My Izzy came home and so are Mum and Dad.
PS: Mum says sorry that she's put two dogs up in 2 days, but thinks I'm different, so maybe that means it doesn't matter. But, she also said that she's sorry that the photo isn't quite in focus, she had matchsticks holding her eyes open this morning ...... Yikes!!"
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)
I pick up my smile put it in my pocket
Hold it for a while try not to have to drop it
Men are not to cry so how am I to stop it
Keep it all inside don't show how much she rocked ya
Ooh can you feel the same
Ooh you gotta love the pain
Ooh it looks like rain again
Ooh I feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
The mountains win again
Dreams we dreamed at night were never meant to come to life
I can't understand the ease she pulled away her hand
This time in my life I was hurt enough to care
I guess from now on I'll be careful what I share
Ooh can you feel the same
Ooh ya gotta love the pain
Ooh it looks like rain again
Yeah feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
A pocket is no place for a smile anyway
Someday I will find love again will blow my mind
Maybe it will be that love that got away from me
Is there a line to write that could make you cry tonight
Can you feel the same
Yeah ya gotta love the pain
Ooh it looks like rain again
Ooh feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
Ooh the mountains win again

MY FAVORITE BAND OF 'EM ALL! Woohoo! The Best!!!!
Taken by Cars, usually referred to as TbC, is a Filipino indie rock band composed of Sarah Marco on vocals, Bryce Zialcita on lead guitar, Derek "Siopao" Chua on rhythm guitar, Benson Yap on bass guitar, and Bryan Kong on drums and sampler. They describe their sound as a mixture of electro, shoegaze, and new wave.
Zialcita, Chua, Yap, and Kong, who have been friends since elementary school, formed a rock band in 1998 when they were high school sophomores. Their only goal was to play gigs in saGuijo, a café in Makati City, Philippines, which caters to indie rock enthusiasts. They performed during their high school and college days under different names like "Kung Fu Benny," "Mexican Rice Bowl," and "Morning Wood" until finally deciding on the name "Taken by Cars" because of its association with the concept of movement and that they "listened to a bulk of their music in their cars." They also tried out several music genres before settling into its "classic rock-modern indie vibe" when Marco joined the group in 2006. However, after just one month of gigging in small audiences using original materials, the band took a hiatus due to what they described as "personal reasons." They made most out of this idle time writing and recording new songs in preparation for their return. Without a major record label to promote them, the band uploaded their music on MySpace, where they garnered fans from different parts of the world.
Taken by Cars returned to scene in early 2007 and have become notable in Manila's indie rock scene that fans began to compel local radio stations for them to play the band's first single, "A Weeknight Memoir (In High Definition)." On February 2007, the band submitted a demo copy of the single to NU 107, a rock music station in Pasig City, Metro Manila, for its segment "In the Raw." Despite its less-than-perfect audio quality, "A Weeknight Memoir (In High Definition)" received heavy radio airplay and has even reached the top spot of NU 107's daily countdown. Their next single, "Uh Oh," also reached number one in the station's charts.
Their debut album "Endings of a New Kind", released in early 2008, has all original composition tracks in which i consider the best cd i got this year. All great songs.

I hope that no one had any incidents like this during New Year's eve and there's nothing to regret for today!
