Rep. Tom Reed visited Jamestown Community College’s Manufacturing Technology Institute in Jamestown to talk with students and staff about the future of manufacturing and programs that are addressing the educational and training needs of regional manufacturers.

Local high school students demonstrated welding tasks. Winning teams received an honor and trophy to take back to their school.

LCC welding instructor David Pittsley and welding student Mark Speranza, together designed a 10-foot-tall metal sculpture for display in downtown Longview in partnership with the Longview Outdoor Gallery.

 

David and Mark worked together to install the art sculpture, titled "Building America."

 

A ceremony was held on February 23, in front of a gathering of LCC staff and faculty, community members, city leaders along with friends and family of the welders.

 

The sculpture is located near the corner of Commerce and Vandercook and will be on display for one year.
