Hi!

The Bear Committee (see

http://greta.electric.gen.nz/~nikster/bearcom.html if you're not

familiar) has decided to run a fun competition to name their newest

bear cub minion/crony/ally that signed up over here. Answers please to either

nikster@greta.electric.gen.nz or www.flickr.com/photos/ahkitj/82419215/ -- a prize of a Committee-endorsed lunch

(bought from The Kiosk at VUW, or other Committee-approved

establishment of course) with Nikster, Little Albert Kenby-Bear, new

cub and their hฤ“keretari is on offer to the winner. If the names are

good.

In order to help you select the best name, fourteen photos (taken with

Tiny Albert Kenby-Bear, one of its brothers) is attached; [the] new cub is the white-furred bear with the blue scarf. Deadline for

entries is when the bear's named. Which could be in the next five

minutes, so you'd better hurry.

Good luck!

Bear hugs,

Nikster's hฤ“keretari (for Nikster, who's actually on holiday somewhere

in Wellington).

NB: no shaggy fur from [the] new cub was lost in the shooting

of the pictures. Just so you know; new cub wanted that mentioned.

Ettie Rout: 'the basis of marriage is obviously mating[...]'.

And again: 'A marriage may be legal [...] and diseased.'

Astoundingly ugly stuffed raccoon-and-peanut-shell item. Is it kitsch art?!?

Saw this at the Round Top Antiques Fair with my mother this October.

Gotta sort out some photos to post; been a busy week! Have a seat while ya wait.

-this is exactly where I found this thing! Damn near tempted to drag it home at the time.

I took cow-orker Martin on a tour of Weird stuff warehouse.

They had some stacked up SGI machines. The one on top is an Indy, the one underneath it is an Indy branded as a Tandem (which I find interesting), and then you have an Indigo2.

Since we were in the neighborhood I decided to surprise Piper with a trip to the computer junkyard.

Presumably from the 70's, this is how they should make electronics. Silver faceplate, clean fonts, black/silver controls. Dig it.

Just another day at the office.

Could this be the solution to getting public-access phones back onto our streets?

When you come from Toronto and say you saw something weird, that carries some weight! This cool...sculpture is one of the stack of eye candy at the Trading Post/ Frontier Village north of Saulte Ste. Marie.

Bring a camera.

By the time I went past the mannequins featured in the previous photograph, they'd undressed one completely. I think the sunglasses were painted and or moulded on during production, though.

Closing off this weird stuff streak for now, here's a couple of mechanical buddies I met on my street after closing time at The Axis.

The classic steel antenna lends well to this. This isn't a normal occurrence.

Whenever we travel we look for unusual stuff. We also like street art and popping into art galleries and interesting stores. This album is mix of all that from a trip we took to Barcelona, Spain, in January 2025. What a beautufil city - I would go back there again!

We parked in a no parking zone so I could take a picture of Elisabeth in front of this wall

i wish these were people. i'd love to hear their stories.

Given the phone-like interface and "sales" label, I think this was likely used by a telemarketing firm.

THis later reminded me of that Pink Floyd, The Wall, movie.

Aahh.. the convenience of being able to buy a fine gift for that special someone while one's car is getting a lube job. Ajo, AZ.

went to draw with will, ended up with this weird religious looking pendant thing.

Continuing with entertaining signs and ending the series of weird stuff photos (finally !) I present this gem. Yes, it's easier to see someone through a glass door than a wooden one...

This swich actually flips a piece of paper around to show on/off when pushed. Awesome.

Big pipes & Power Stuff... FAKE. Retired movie props behind Jadis located at 2701 Main St, Santa Monica, Calif. 90405... bird poop is real.

One of the more entertaining of my many "foto phailures". Nothing like a big glowing hand in my folk's homey kitchen to say "Hi !".
