These weights are the means (scales or quantity)) by which Opium Dealers would sell opium. I purchased them in Northern Thailand near the border.

This information graphic uses a combination of data sets and is intended to show a link between the amount of food I eat, the amount of exercise I do and my resulting body weight. My weight is displayed in pounds and everything else is measured in calories. The number of calories used is subtracted from the number eaten on each day to discover if I ate too much or too little on that occasion. The obvious assumption is that eating more than is needed will result in an increase in body weight, and eating less will lead to a weight loss. By showing my resulting body weight laid directly on top of this data I can show how this theory works in reality. The two data sets do indeed react to movements within the other very closely. There is sometimes a delay of a few days for my body weight to react to my eating, possibly because body fat is not converted to energy instantly.

Weight of Time
This still life brings together the quiet poetry of everyday objects, those pieces we pass by at home without a second thought, until they’re invited into the frame and given a voice. Three textured jugs rest in soft, muted tones, their matte surfaces contrasted by the glossy black reflection below. A single jug rises taller than the rest and hosts a bouquet of blush blossoms and dried golden stems, lending a gentle romantic lift against the dark, weathered backdrop.
To the left, an antique scale anchors the scene, its worn metal face and patina speaking to the passage of years. It’s an unexpected guest, the kind of household item that once had a purpose but now serves as character, its presence adding tension, history, and a bit of whimsy to the composition.
I love incorporating these random treasures from around the house. They turn still lifes into quiet stories, objects conversing with one another across time, texture, and light.

This is the tip of my favourite walking stick. It has a conventional curved handle and it's the right weight and length for me. I bought it in Austria about twenty-five years ago. It has a metal alpine ferrule which is useful when scrambling up muddy banks - and for poking things.

Just trying something a bit different today. Feel free to give constructive criticism. =^D
Guys, I have to put a disclaimer in here: I really did not process this for b&w. It just happened in the camera that way. As you can see, the scale screen actually has a green hue to it. This is what you might call "in camera b&w". lol =^D

The Weight of Shame
Burk Parsons
Shame—we all feel it, or at least we should. We are all sinful, and our sin brings shame. Although shame has all but disappeared from our culture's vocabulary and is largely ignored by many in the church, it exists nonetheless and must be recognized and reckoned with. If we are honest with ourselves, and more importantly, honest with God, we cannot help but admit that we feel shame as a result of our sin. Whether we sin in private or in public—and whether we perhaps even pretend not to have it—shame is undeniably real. We feel shame because God in His grace created all human beings with the capacity to feel shame as a consequence of their sin. John Calvin wrote, "Only those who have learned well to be earnestly dissatisfied with themselves, and to be confounded with shame at their wretchedness truly understand the Christian gospel." If we have never truly felt the shame of our sin, we have never truly repented of our sin. For it is only when we recognize what wretches we are that we are able to sing "Amazing Grace" and know what a sweet sound it truly is. Even when we are young children—from the very first moment in our lives when we know we've done something wrong—we blush and hang our heads in shame. The question is not whether we feel shame, but what we do with our shame. Some try to hide their shame, some try to ignore it as long as possible, some grow callous and complacent toward their shame, and some wallow in their shame and live their lives in quiet desperation. However, as Christians, we have a place to go with our shame—the foot of the cross. We have a Redeemer who has taken our shame to the cross. So we sing, "Bearing shame and scoffing rude, in my place condemned he stood, sealed my pardon with his blood: Hallelujah, what a Savior." Jesus Christ redeemed us not only from His wrath and hell in the future but from having to wallow in the mire of guilt and shame in the present. Jesus promised us not only eternal life in the future, but abundant life that begins in the present. Jesus lived and died not only for the guilt of our sin but for the shame of our sin. He endured the cross, despising its shame, so that we would not have to wallow in shame. Our Lord calls us to bring our shame to Him, whereas Satan wants us to bear the constant weight of our shame and wallow in it for the rest of our lives. But if we live each day bearing the shame of yesterday, and we're worried about the shame of tomorrow, we will never experience the joys of abundant life in Christ today. Therefore, let us lift our weary eyes from gazing upon our shame and fix our eyes of Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.

Chassis n° 1004
Put together in just three months by a team headed by Mauro Forghieri, the 512 S mounted an all-alloy V12 of almost five litres with four valves per cylinder. The tubular spaceframe was developed from the P4 and the 612, while the bodywork was designed by Giacomo Caliri and made from polycarbonate for light weight.
The car offered here, chassis 1004, was completed in late 1969 in preparation of the 1970 World Endurance Championship. The car featured external door hinges, a roof vent and larger diameter anti-roll bar. Chassis 1004 was immediately destined for competition and entered the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours, which was also the debut for the Ferrari 512 S model.

Before the wheel and in through the cold.
When the air is warm or humid, the manual transportation of goods does not require cover. The ice age was pre domestication and the weight of the village needed to be moved with human power. Pushing a sledge offers little defense should the caravan be attacked at a time when predators were diverse and could see far and wide. A 'dragon' platform would have afforded solutions to many local problems.
The wooden legs of the platform can be seen as dark diagonals dropping down. Normally a leather cover drops to offer greater protection from the cold. This cover has been lifted for the photo. The same wooden legs hold a second lower frame from which straps can be attached. With a tension lever, these straps can be adjusted for the needs of each clan member so that weight is correctly distributed on their shoulders. The whole frame can be lowered onto its legs where it becomes a cramped but functional temporary shelter. In the prehistoric epochs prior to domestication, animals will have been seen to run, bolt, kick and dive, and the idea of attaching hand made possessions to just such spirits will have seemed comic.

Today I have reached my short term goal on losing weight. I have lost 20 pounds in total today. It took me a little longer then most, 7 months, because I have Osteoarthritis in both knees so exercise is not always easy for me. In this photo I have shown two DVD's that I use, some weights and stretch bands. These are my daily tools that have helped me to loose my 20 pounds. I enjoy hiking but have not been able to do that for a long time, but in June, when I was in Idaho, I went on a short hike for the first time in many years and just last week when we went to the zoo I went on a long hike. It feels so good to be able to do things I haven't been able to do in a long time. Hip-hip-hooray, I lost 20 pounds today!
