Small beetle with other names with crab's eye, snout beetle...

A weevil is a type of beetle from the Curculionoidea superfamily. They are usually small, less than 6 mm (0.24 in), and herbivorous. Over 60,000 species are in several families, mostly in the family Curculionidae (the true weevils).

I found this Weevil with some sort of glue stuck to its trunk, I did try to remove it by hand, but unfortunately I was too late.

So after my last experimental shot absolutely bombed and should be forever encased in a sarcophagus liken to that of the tomb of Chernobyl, I took my wounded pride to the garden today and discovered my plants are currently being inhabited by Weevils taking up squatters rights just about everywhere, where there is two square inches of flora.

I hope you guys like this one better :o)

I hope everyone is well and so as always thank you! :)

Phyllobius is a genus of broad-nosed weevils that are commonly found on low herbage and in trees during spring and summer. Most are covered in metallic green scales that give them a very attractive appearance. There are 9 species and most look similar but they can be separated by carefully comparing the range of features shown in the table below, either under a binocular microscope or with a x20 hand-lens.

Phyllobius weevils can be distinguished from the similar genus Polydrusus by looking where the antennae emerge from the rostrum. In Phyllobius the antennae emerge from the top whilst in Polydrusus they are positioned at the side. When looking directly down on the beetle it is usually clear to see.

Just time for a quick walk around the garden today. Louise has been down from Sydney so she could visit Di's Mum in the hospital.

I spotted this Weevil on a ripening navel orange on our tree.

Elephant Weevil (Orthorhinus cylindrirostris)

An adult and, unfortunately, I didn't get a good look at its 'trunk' before it took the kamikaze leap.

A cool little Weevil that I photographed at Lake Waterford in Maryland on 3/30/21.

(Rhynchophorus cruentatus). This weevil suddenly appeared next to me while I was trying to take a picture of some ducks. I think it dropped from a bird's beak as it flew overhead, I caught a glimpse of something flying off but I wasn't sure what! It was a bit stunned and was quite easy to photograph as it wasn't moving very fast. The palmetto weevil is an insect native to Florida. It is the largest weevil in North America and the only kind of palm weevil in the continental United States. It infests palms and is considered a pest.

Weevil (Curculionoidea)

With over 6,000 types of Weevil here in Oz I am not going to try to ID this one. Thinking it may still be a nymph as it was less than 3.5 mm long, from tip of nose to tail!

It is one that I have not seen before.

This Weevil was about 3mm long. I love these little guys. They are so cool looking. Photographed in Maryland.

I love weevils. I just think they are adorable. I know, I'm weird. Photographed in Maryland.

Nothing to see here. Just a couple wacky weevils wrestling. Photographed in Maryland.

A little bit of weevil passion in the park today!

Weevil (family Curculionidae)

The first Weevil I have spotted this season. I am unsure of the exact species. Just 4 mm in length so it may be a nymph.

A cool little weevil that I photographed at Kinder Park in Maryland.

There are lots of creatures on a meadow which you won't see if you just walk by because they are so tiny. The image is misleading as this green leaf-weevil only has a size of about 4 mm (0.16 in) and I only saw him because I sat down and waited and suddenly noticed a movement. It was quite difficult to focus on him, especially as he didn't want to sit still for a photo.
