Marienplatz (St. Mary Square) is one of the oldest Subway Stations in Munich, built in the early 70s. Nevertheless it is very nice due to the vintage Colours of the Tiles. The Combination of Yellow/Orange/blue was State-of-the-Art at those Times.
Shot with Sony A7 Mii and the Zeiss Batis 1.8/85mm at F=7.1.
München Marienplatz is an important stop on the Munich S-Bahn and U-Bahn network, located under the square of the same name in Munich's city centre. The S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7 and S8 intersect with the U-Bahn lines U3 and U6. The station is one of the most frequently used stations in the network, with up to 24,400 people transferring and 8,000 passengers entering or exiting each hour. In 2007, 175,400 used the station daily on weekdays, including entries, exits and transfers.
In October 1966 construction was started, finishing in October 1971 as part of the new S-Bahn network for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Until early 2003 there were almost no further refurbishments done at the station. From 2003 to 2006, the platforms of the U-Bahn were widened to expand passenger capacity and were lifted by 4 cm to secure same-level boarding.

The next five day's I will be over to the other side of the country for my real life job.
So no second life, no taking pictures.and not posting.
This will be the case for four weeks on weekday's.
With a Second Life inventory exploding with stuff to show I have to let real life get my full priority.
In the meantime have fun while you shop until you drop.

A bench in a small railway station during a weekend is something strange. The crowdy atmosphere of weekdays turns into a surreal lonely place, where geometries focus the attention of the observer.

Well, at least it wasn't supposed to be for our neighborhood!
The local weather people really called this one wrong.
A few days ago they were saying that the Philadelphia area wasn't even going to see any snow out of this system.
It was supposed to hug the coastline and hit the Jersey shore, and impact everyone south of here on the eastern seaboard.
All of the sudden, last night I hear them say that maybe we'll get an inch.
It has been snowing all day.
There is about 3-4 inches out back. Enough for people to be out snow blowing their driveways. No big deal, but unexpected.
I don't care. I have no place to go, but if this had been a weekday and people had to get to work, this would have been a big deal.

I finally identified and labeled some of the wildflowers that I photographed on this hike.
If I am incorrect please let me know. Most of the wildflowers are past their peak bloom.
Hiked to 3rd Burroughs Mountain from Sunrise, Washington, Mount Rainier National Park. The most people hiking on a weekday than I have ever seen on these trails. Seven mile round trip to 3rd Burroughs. Beautiful sunny day but a relief from the heat that most of eastern Washington is experiencing.

Last Sunday and Monday were my first two completely free days I have had in quite some time. So after finishing my last Choral Concert for the year on Saturday, I set the alarm for 4 AM and set off for Zion National Park. I had never been there before, but had heard it was amazing, and Google showed it as being a 6 hour drive from my house, roughly the same amount of time it takes for me to get to Yosemite. So by 6 AM, I was already through the Cajon pass and on my way to Zion.
Many hard lessons were learned on this trip, and I hope to go into detail on my blog later regarding how no one should ever, under any circumstances, head to a popular national park on Memorial Day weekend and then try to get back home on the last day of the weekend on the one highway leading back to LA from Vegas...(nine hours of traffic!), but let me skip ahead to the part where I drove through Zion without stopping due to the insane crowds and lousy sky and headed straight on to Bryce in hopes of tracking down a thunderstorm.
Bryce was amazing, but the canyon is on the Eastern side of the ridge which wasn't what I need for my sunset shot and I knew that I might still be able to get back to Zion for either a sunset or a blue hour shot from the Canyon Overlook. At this point I should probably mention that I usually spend quite a bit of time scouting locations online before I head out, but in this case, it was such a last minute decision that all I had to go on was that Zion was off of the 15 and Bryce was a bit East of Zion. It was small wonder, then, that I drove right by the Canyon Overlook trail head twice, completely missing the blue hour shot with light trails that I was hoping to get. When I finally tracked down the trailhead, it was already past 9 PM and I knew that it was now much darker than I had planned on. Undeterred, I headed up the trail in the dark with my headlamp.
After a semi-sketchy hike in the dark, I climbed over one last large boulder and found myself looking out over the valley. The view was absolutely stunning, and since I was all by myself up there, I just took a few moments to soak it in. It took a while for my eyes to adjust once I flipped off the headlamp and the stars were gleaming brightly in the warm breeze and you could barely hear the cars down below as they zig-zagged across the valley floor like pachinko machine balls made of light.
This shot is a combination of a 90 second exposure for the valley and light trails, and 30 second exposure for the sky. (Going longer than 30 seconds with the 14-24 would blur the stars.) The glow off of the clouds above seemed to be coming from Hurricane and the surrounding towns.
The rest of the trip was a blur between shooting the Milky Way and getting a couple of hours of sleep before heading back to Bryce for the Sunrise before the long odyssey of trying to get back home on the 15. I'm hoping to spend MUCH more time there on my next trip, which will hopefully be during the off season... on a weekday...in the snow. Never again on Memorial Day weekend!

Weekday Homily: the Visitation 05/31/22
Every Monday, and Saturday, for those who pray the Rosary, we get a chance to ponder and reflect on Today’s feast: The visitation.
What have we learned and heard over the years, about this special and blessed event? Our Gospel reading, gives us the vastness of our Salvation history…and I get to dip my heart and soul in the vastness of this mystery every evening in the Liturgy of the Hours.
In praying the Rosary, We do the same thing.
How I wish everyone, who claims to be a Christian, would dip themselves in these points of our Salvation story. For if you dip…you are pulled into and participate fully in this unfolding plan.
Our awareness of this participation is overwhelming. I say overwhelming…because we desire to spread this experience to the world.
Is this not the same spirit that drove Mary to Elizabeth?
Is this not the same Spirit that pulls you each day to meet Jesus in the Eucharist?

I have been avoiding London over the summer both because of the heatwave temperatures and the crowds. This is one from the archives from June. Highgate is close to the northern end of the Northern Line so not many people about both for being a ways out and also in the middle of the day on a weekday. I liked the nice shiny seats and made them a feature in the composition
The picture was taken with a Sony A68 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. 3 images for HDR. The image was first processed with Photomatix 6 using Contrast Optimiser for a natural look. I used brightness adjustment layers to darken and lighten different areas of the image with layer masks to get it just right. Duplicate layer and Topaz Clarity applied for more detail.

There are many lakes around Berlin, often less crowded on weekdays, where you can enjoy a few laps in the water to relax. The sunset spectacle is also very relaxing and the colors are sometimes almost unreal.

Leadenhall Market is a covered market in London.
The market dates from the 14th century. It is typically open weekdays from 7 am until late, and primarily sells fresh food; among the vendors there are cheesemongers, butchers and florists.
The ornate roof structure, painted green, maroon and cream, and cobbled floors of the current structure, designed in 1881 by Sir Horace Jones, make Leadenhall Market a tourist attraction.
