This image to me, it's a powerful one.
Obviously as a viewer you see what I want you to see from an image whether it has been manipulated in terms of contents, manipulated in terms of the layers and levels and colors, or raw straight from the camera with whatever settings I took it in.
This image was one of a series of photos I snapped during Jenna's walk down the aisle where Ricci first sees her.
No first look for this wedding, traditional. I like to shoot from a distance, capture the natural moments that aren't staged to help people remember that moment. Even when I set up photos to be taken that are "posed" shots, I'll have someone else taking that photo while I shoot on the side. For R & J, we didn't have much space up in the front to make it non-intrusive, but when you have a lot of camera equipment and a videographer running as well, your angles are tight.
This angle was the one presented to me to best capture the groom's face when he first saw his bride. Emotional, you could see pure love and joy in his face that today was the day, and here comes his partner, his perfect bride on display for the world to see.
In the background you can see the groomsmen, and in the series of shots you can see them looking at him waiting to see his reaction and then all of them smiling and looking to Jenna coming down the aisle. That is love. Some of his best friends standing by his side to honor this big day.
Another note to take is you see the ipad/phone some sort of digital device blocking my shot. I couldn't move, I couldn't say anything since we were underway. It legitimately ruined a photo from being a 10/10 to me as I was already standing in the line with the bridesmaids trying to shoot a narrow path without getting equipment in this photo. As much as we all want our personal memoirs of special moments, I've learned over the years, both doing photography for a gig, for myself, or observing others, sometimes we have to make a judgement call and remember to just be in the moment. I myself have put my own camera down, many times when I was in South Africa just so I could really enjoy and see everything before me. Of course I have photos that will take me back, but sometimes those other memories do more justice. Remember it's okay for us to disconnect. Be in the moment. Live it.

Yup, I totally made this cup of coffee myself.
I've been using Phase One Capture One 6 Pro to edit some of my images lately, because it's highly praised for it's color processing abilities, specifically pertinent to skin tones. The above image was processed in Capture One and then watermarked with Lightroom 4 (for reasons I explain further on).
This is in contrast to using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4, which I still preference for a number of reasons to include that I've used it since before Lightroom 1 was in Alpha testing form. Lightroom 4 has also brought a vast improvement in color and exposure processing that I believe closely competes with Capture One.
While I like both applications, I've uncovered a few problems with both; Lightroom 4 isn't of as much concern for now, as it is still in a Beta form, but I'll still address those - may of which have already been raised in Adobe's Support Forums for Lightroom 4 Beta.
Here is a summary of problems I've found with either program. Remember, the good outweighs the shortcomings; I'm skipping all the good things both applications offer...
Capture One 6 Professional: You'll see in the comments below some strange color rendering computability issues with DNG files; adjusting the ICC profile doesn't solve this issue. Below you can see a CR2 straight from the camera displaying correctly, with a DNG conversion next to it. I tried the DNG conversion using Lightroom 4 AND Capture One, and had the same result displayed. The above image was processed in Capture One from a very ugly looking DNG file (this is the image I discovered the DNG problem on); I brought a lot of the color back to what the original CR2 looked like, but it still has a touch of the nasty green cast the un-edited DNG had. I have not tried converting a DNG file to PSD or 16-Bit TIFF to see if this will let me keep the correct color rendering in Capture One and allow me to still edit my massive library of DNG files.
I've posted about the DNG color problem in the Phase One Support Forum here, but to date no solution has been presented. Phase One chimed in saying it is normal behavior; this has inspired me to stop converting my files to from CR2 to DNG: forum.phaseone.com/En/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=11956
I've also found a strange problem with using PNGs with semi-transparent areas. My watermark has an outer-glow which renders correctly in Adobe products, but renders as moire ripples in Capture One. See an example of this in the comments. For the above image, I used Lightroom 4 to add my watermark, avoiding the strange moire issue.
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta: The biggest complaint I've heard about LR4 is that it's slow; I completely agree. This is hopefully only because it is a beta. Notably, module changes are slow, and sliders seem to freeze before, during, and after you use them. The RGB curves editor is practically unusable because of this; I also don't like how it the curve movement has been slowed down for precision - this isn't a bug, but it is an annoyance to someone used to Photoshop's regular, plane-jane curves editor. Adjustment brushes are also very hard to use due to the sluggishness; this results in some brush strokes being missed or incomplete. A good fix, however, is that Adobe finally go the brush size adjustment corrected for touchpad gestures and Wacom tablets (thank God).
Another issue I see in Lightroom 4 is it's new Chromatic Aberration Removal... it doesn't remove anything. This was a feature in previous Lightrooms which was marginal at best, but now the "automatic algorithm" removal has no customizable settings to change, and simply doesn't do anything to CA. Phase One's application still leads in chromatic aberration removal. The only solution I've found in Lightroom 4 to completely remove CA is the new Moire correction brush; this actually does a very good job; it just has yet to be proven when used on CA in areas suffering from moire...
A final problem I've seen in Lightroom 4 Beta is text selection; when adjusting numerical values, such as Exposure or Clarity, the text highlight is the same color as the text, so you can't read what you're typing until you deselect the value input.
