This time I wanted the background to go dark, but with some details. The ambient light was measured to f.16 so I had to use a ND 4 filter to get down the ambient level so i could shoot the picture with the DOF and f.stop (f.5.6) that I wanted.

1x Hensel Porty 1200w Cam right. Fired through an 90cm octabox

Sun back left for rim

 

Taken with the Canon 5d mark2 with the EF 70-200mm at 170mm.

Instead of the normally straight, long stick, this male Great Blue Heron brought this pretty branch to his beloved just before sunset... she was so impressed that she broke off a part of it and waved it around for all the world to see... shortly thereafter they squawked their vows and took to their honeymoon beds... it was a joy to see...!
