Le Chateau Website : peinturelure.wixsite.com/le-chateau

At Le Chateau, we know how much you love parties, the 80s, and of course Scarface. A masterpiece of ambition, excess, and Miami glamour, Scarface has always been a major source of inspiration for our estate. With that in mind, we are excited to announce the upcoming opening of a new clubbing space inspired by the legendary Babylon Club from the film.

Nearly 4 years ago, we carved out a tiny slice of Scarface magic, a cozy dimly lit room inspired by the Babylon Club, tucked upstairs in the Motel holding so many memories over the years. Now, that small dream is about to grow into something much bigger, and we couldn’t be prouder to see it evolve into a space that truly captures the energy and spirit of the original vision.

It’s coming next week, so stay tuned for updates and get ready to party like never before at Le Chateau.

I shot this picture one day after buying the Z8 in Sydney a year ago. I am certainly not a cityscape panorama specialist (and using a 50mm lens for that purpose is not really the best choice!😏), but with all the new editing options in Lightroom and Photoshop now, I thought I give it a shot and see what comes out.

I used a little bit of AI to smoothen the water and to create nicer reflections. AI also helped me to complete the fringes of the picture.

Mount Rainier is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, and the highest mountain in the state of Washington. It is a large active stratovolcano located 54 miles (87 km) southeast of Seattle. It is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States and the Cascade Volcanic Arc, with a summit elevation of 14,411 ft (4,392 m). Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, and it is on the Decade Volcano list. Because of its large amount of glacial ice, Mt. Rainier could potentially produce massive lahars that could threaten the entire Puyallup River valley.

Mount Rainier was first known by the Native Americans as Talol, or Tacoma or Tahoma, from the Lushootseed word [təqʷúʔbəʔ] ("mother of waters") spoken by the Puyallup. Another interpretation is that "Tacoma" means "larger than Mount Baker". This comes from the Skagit "Ta", larger, plus "Koma (Kulshan)", Mount Baker. Other names originally used include Tahoma, Tacobeh, and Pooskaus. The current name was given by George Vancouver, who named it in honor of his friend, Rear Admiral Peter Rainier. The map of the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1804-1806 refers to it as "Mt. Regniere".

Although "Rainier" had been considered the official name of the mountain, Theodore Winthrop, in his posthumously published 1862 travel book The Canoe and the Saddle, referred to the mountain as "Tacoma" and for a time, both names were used interchangeably, although "Mt. Tacoma" was preferred in the city of Tacoma.

In 1890, the United States Board on Geographic Names declared that the mountain would be known as "Rainier". Following this in 1897, the Pacific Forest Reserve became the Mount Rainier Forest Reserve, and the national park was established three years later. Despite this, there was still a movement to change the mountain's name to "Tacoma" and Congress was still considering a resolution to change the name as late as 1924.

In the excitement leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, John Hickenlooper, Governor of Colorado, named 53 mountains after the 53 members of the Denver Broncos. In response, the Washington State Senate passed a resolution on Friday, January 31, 2014, temporarily renaming the mountain Mount Seattle Seahawks. The resolution expired on midnight Monday, February 3, 2014.

Thank you to all those who gave feedback about the site after yesterday's quieter ad.

I value the comments of Flickr friends greatly as many of you are very experienced and excellent photographers...far more so than just an opportunist enthusiast like me. Still, my own web gallery was always a goal.

The lira is very weak and sites and domains are expensive, Smugmug, with the Flickr discount, was my only option. Which is why the eBook produce will hopefully back up the few print sales to allow renewal.

Some drawbacks to using Smugmug but overall, not bad. Their helpdesk support has been superb!

Thank you again and I hope the indulgence of this ad isn't too obtrusive!

Wishing you all a good weekend!

Brrr... it has been cold during the last few days. Way below -20°C degrees. This is a different winter, one of those good old ones. The sea covered by a layer of thick ice. Definitely, favorable weather to photograph Bearded Reedlings (Panurus biarmicus) I thought ... and as it had been 3 years since I photographed them for the last time, I was eager, motivated, and all dressed for it... well... got lucky. Happy Days!

Spiders web. Happy Halloween. Thanks for visiting.......

Not actually from the London Flickr Photowalk around Shadwell and Wapping back in February but taken about twenty minutes afterwards as I continued walking along the river as darkness fell. I managed to take a few dark and moody shots of London including this reflection of the Shard skyscraper.

Taken at 6400 ISO it's fair to say the shot is a bit rainy, not least as I had to underexpose it to even achieve the 1/25th second hand held exposure...... Having said that I rather like the effect.

From Wikipedia "The Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 95-story skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in Southwark, London, that forms part of the Shard Quarter development. Standing 309.7 metres (1,016 ft) high, the Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom, the tallest building in the European Union, the fifth-tallest building in Europe and the 96th-tallest building in the world. It is also the second-tallest free-standing structure in the United Kingdom, after the concrete tower of the Emley Moor transmitting station. It replaced Southwark Towers, a 24-story office block built on the site in 1975.

The Shard's construction began in March 2009; it was topped out on 30 March 2012 and inaugurated on 5 July 2012. Practical completion was achieved in November 2012. The tower's privately operated observation deck, The View from The Shard, was opened to the public on 1 February 2013.The glass-clad pyramidal tower has 72 habitable floors, with a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck on the 72nd floor, at a height of 244 metres (801 ft). The Shard was developed by Sellar Property Group on behalf of LBQ Ltd and is jointly owned by Sellar Property (5%) and the State of Qatar (95%) The Shard is managed by Real Estate Management (UK) Limited on behalf of the owners."

It has been a while since I photographed frogs and had forgotten how wet you can get. With 6°C, and just a thin fleece, I got pretty cold within no time and had to stop my frog pursuit... I will return. In this particular pond in the middle of an old forest I just saw these Common Frogs (Rana temporaria) (and pretty happy with that), but hope to find a few Moor Frogs soon as well.

A photo of the facetted facade of the Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects / Swanke Hayden Connell Architects designed 62 Buckingham Gate ofice building in central London.

In case you were wondering, it looks like Swanke Hayden Connell Architects went bust partway through the project and then Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects took it over and completed it.
