Op zaterdag 2 oktober 2024 mocht de knappe blauwe HLD 5519 van TSP een Railtraxx dienst doen dit zijnde een ketelwagen-treintje rijden van Antwerpen noord naar Tessenderlo chemie. Uw webmaster had namelijk zo'n 5 keer op rij tellende vanaf maandag avond de nachtshift voor spoorwegonderneming Lineas. Ikzelf was dus de foto's gaan maken na de laatste nachtdienst goed gek want ik was al wakker van vrijdag 13u. Het opblijven was een groot succes! Ik kon de trein op de gevoelige plaat vastleggen naast het knappe voormalige stationgebouw van Tessenderlo. Veel storende elementen waren er in het bijzonder niet! Zo'n foto-trein op een diesel spoor doet me echt terugdenken aan vervlogen gouden tijden ! ;-)

I noticed this extremely tiny, maybe 1/16th inch or 2 mm, spider in the begonias. Almost couldn't see it. I became intent, ok, obsessed :-), with getting a few photos of it. People walking by couldn't figure out what I was taking a photo of. :) Sorry for so many, most of which are not in sharp focus due to it move quickly and my leaning over trying to handheld my macro lens, but had to try. The bright morning sun blew out some of its fine details.

Sorry for so many photos again. All from the same morning walk yesterday. Saving since very cloudy today with chances of severe storms tonight and Sunday. No need to comment. :)

Female Golden Silk Orb Weaver - missing one leg, but that didn't stop her :)

Elke voorziene woensdag komt operator Lineas op de haven-sectie Antwerpen D.S Angola met een beladen graan-trein. De aanvoer is vroeg ochtends de trein wordt gelost bij Boormalt. Tegen het middag uur is het lossen gebeurt en kan de ledige afvoer-trein weer richting Antwerpen noord. Het vertrek ligt meestal tussen de vroege en late shift in +-13U30. Achter de locomotief zitten wel erg fraai gekleurde wagons van onderandere wagenhouders Ermewa en Nacco. Het geheel kwam hier voorbij uw webmaster gereden die het hier toch wel een erg desolate sfeer vind!

Op zaterdag 26 oktober had ik nog een vroege dienst te werken alvorens het weekend kon starten. Rond de klok van 13u30 vertrok ik dan huiswaarts maar er stond nog wat leuks op het menu die middag! Het was een losse rit met diesellocomotief 5519 van TSP (rijdende onder licentie van Railtraxx) Deze reed een rit van Antwerpen noord bundel N naar Kapellen wijkspoor voor het testen van de generator om rijtuigen te gaan verwarmen binnenkort einde November. Uw webmaster kon een foto maken nabij Kapellen wijkspoor na een stop van 40 minuten kon de losse diesel dan weer vertrekken terug naar Antwerpen noord.

I think it's a Garden Cross, but it's a fairly large one. I spent a while watching it carefully getting those silk threads in just the right place. Such a master of triangulation.

Birdwatching at Garr Ranch, Antelope Island, Utah. Milt Moody, Webmaster for the Utah County Birders Association, and member of the Utah Ornithological Society (UOS) Records Committee patiently waiting for the Red-eyed Vireo, which did not ever show up.

Garr Ranch is located at Garr Springs, one of the strongest and most consistent of the 40 springs on Antelope Island, Utah. The island is reached by driving across a 7-mile long causeway from the mainland, located about 20 miles north of Salt Lake City, The springs provide an oasis in the desert for migrating birds all seasons of the year. Garr Ranch is a very popular destination for bird watchers. Birds seen during morning at Garr Ranch on Sep. 1, 2007:

Spider-Man sits in readiness in his darkened 'parlour' (code name for Ops room) with only his PPI to throw light on the current 'bandit' situation. Looking closely at the screen, he can see a bandit at six o'clock and closing fast which means that he has to get his skates on; time waits for no man, not even Spider-Man!

Blind sector : A zone where signals and echos are masked by triple decker buses, high-rise caravans, high seas, Tall Ships, Mammoth Supermarkets, Giant Bicycles, European butter mountains, the odd low-flying saucer - you name it!

Of all my many web photos it was from the approximate shape of the web and the background in this particular one that I could clearly see the potential for a circular radar display, if my ageing memory of the 60s serves me well. So I simply cropped it into a square, rounded off the corners till they became the circumference of a circle, and there you have it. Unfortunately, the web itself did not quite meet the highest standards of manufacture.

Apart from the cropping in a 'round about' sort of way, the picture is exactly as it was when it came out of the camera complete with all of its features. Even the white echo at 6 o'clock was already there and almost exactly in the right place. I only had to straighten the photo just a little. I have no idea what it could have been; it's not the sort detail one notices on a very small screen when taking a photo like this one with dewdrops everywhere. It could have been a tiny insect caught up in one of the range markers and covered by an extra large dewdrop.

Op maandag was het nog eens prachtig zonnig weer maar uw webmaster had belangrijke prioriteiten na het werk met de vroege op Antwerpen noord. Rond de klok van 13u20 passeerde ik met de fiets opweg naar huis nabij de Oosterweelbrug waar het licht op rood sprong voor een trein. Niet heel veel later kwam dan DB Cargo 6471 met haar beladen Looderts trein aanzetten. Op maandag-Woensdag en vrijdag rijd er namelijk een Looderts trein van Antwerpen haven bundel Groenland (ABT) naar het Duitse Stolberg. De trein wordt in alle vroegte ochtends ledig geplaatst en vertrekt dan weer beladen naar Antwerpen noord bundel B-3 om zo iets wat later door te reizen met een elektrische locomotief. Alhoewel DB Cargo goed actief is in Antwerpen is het toch wel vissen met reden dat DB Ook 77en in hun vloot heeft.

Uw webmaster zijn fototoestel was een week geleden defect geraakt waardoor het foto's maken even volledig stil lag. Op maandag 12 juni kon ik in de vroege avond dan toch weer op stap gaan mits ik een al ouder fototoestel tijdelijk terug nieuw leven in blaas. Op de foto zien we rond de klok van 20u30 de intervorming-trein naar Kinkempois (Luik) passeren. Het gebeurt dat herstelde locomotieven die in Antwerpen een revisie gehad hebben uitgewisseld worden met grootte rangeerstations. Zo ook op deze maandagavond was het lekker dieselen geblazen! Op de foto denderen maar liefst 4 diesels voorbij. Echter 2 in dienst en 2 als gesleept voertuig. Achter de locomotieven hing nog een redelijk kort rommel-treintje! De foto gemaakt te Mortsel Lijn 27-A. De trein op de foto was rijdende van Antwerpen noord bundel c-2 naar Kinkempois.

This spider has been here for some weeks now. The low morning sun at this time of year gives some lovely light and I hope I've done this wonder of nature justice
