I mainly did the icons in the inputs to be clever, but I'm quickly growing tired of them. They're a bit garish, and the black & white icons in there are kind of a fad, so I'm not sure what to do.

Jason Fried at 37 Signals recently described this as "the gold standard in information-heavy web design". I disagree. 2 banner ads, a popup, graphical text and informationless icons, to me, don't add up to the gold standard of anything but mediocrity. But then again I don't use it so what do I know?

Learning Programming is not such a bad idea… ift.tt/1k7ua3b To learn programming is not so difficult like most of the people think. As a graphic designer it is a very handy skill. Especially today. Everybody needs a website. So if you can design websites and also program them you have many advantages. You are much more in control of the design and not independent on someone else. You can play around when you program the website and come to different but more interesting results / solutions. Also it saves you money not to hire an external programmer. Even better – you can charge your client for the work as well. When someone asks you for a logo you can tell him that you do not only design him a logo but do the whole package for him. Including a website. And boom – you earn much more. And like I said. Everybody needs a website today. Well not everybody. But everyone who opens some kind of business. Also the learning curve is very steep. Once you have built a couple of websites you will notice that you will be much faster. In the beginning you will spend a lot of time searching for the most basic pieces of code. But after a while you know where to find them. Or even better. You built yourself a little archive with pieces of code. They are called snippets. A very nice tool I found a couple of days ago is called Dash. There you can copy and paste all kinds of snippets you might use over and over when you program a website. This was avery short introduction about webdesign and it’s importance. In the future I will post more articles and tips of how you build your own website. Many wishes! Marius
